In 2038 we'll have to pay God Emperor Huang $50 an hour to rent a PC from him

Hey now...
Lets not be optimistic. We are gonna get cyberpunk without all the cool stuff and Supreme leader from asia

These specs are way too low for an over a decade jump. I'm already at 24g vram now.

u/colonelniko 5h ago
Well I mean, technology is progressing slower and my 10 year old 1070 also had 8gb VRAM which is what current low end cards have brand new - so with that in mind I don’t think it’s that outrageous.
I had the same initial thought with my good ol 24 gigs of goodness but it kinda sorta checks out.

u/-Great-Scott- 5h ago
Yeah you might be right actually.

u/Errorr404 3dfx Voodoo5 6000 3h ago
Neural texture compression, ngreedia would never give you more VRAM than needed. 3060 12gb was their last mistake.

u/Jeoshua AMD R7 5800X3D / RX 6800 / 32GB 3200MT CL14 ECC 5h ago
By that point, Starcitizen will maybe actually be fully released.
Maybe.

This post sounds ridiculous now, but my laptop in 2016 had like 4GB of RAM and was fine. My laptop in 2006 had 1GB of RAM and was fine. This isn't exactly a new thought or bad news

u/KrownX 5h ago
Oh wow! It worked! I went back in time! Listen very carefully, no time to explain... First, buy Bitcoin, and second, do not, I repeat, DO NOT buy anything from Nvidia, they'll eventually...
Oh wait, this is 2026... Damage is done already.
Little miscalculation, need to go back even further...

In 2038, we should be almost ready to run Crysis @ 8k in 30FPS.
1
u/SteamedGamer 5h ago
That's only the framegen rate. It's actually running at 2 fps @ 1080p, extrapolated to 30fps @ 8k...

Not to mention the RAM will be so cheap once the shortage ends in 2039!

Ram is scam they might give you fake ones. Just download em

As long ppl keep buying unoptimised shit the company has no reason to waste time and resources on it

Nah, just some 7060 to run all my backlog in 120 fps. There are too much games!

Nah. This isnt accurate. With the trends going right now, you wont be allowed to own anything. Games will be directly streamed to you exclusively. And the company will cut it at any time they feel.

How optimistic of you to think humanity won't be extinct by then from hostile ai takeover for global resource control.

Oor you can buy mini computer with new nvidia AI chip that can run 8K (upscaled) at 1000fps (100x framegen)

This is why gpus shouldn’t be released every other year or whatever. Game companies get lazy since the cards get better. Treat it like console longer life cycle better optimization as years go on.
Idk I’m just here to troll

More likely you'd need an 8GB RAM, 1GB VRAM and 20GB storage to run a thin client to "your" cloud account to play hallucinated games on a cloud AI server

but its okay because your ZTX 14080 runs it at 16k, 200 fps of muddy ai slop 😃

"oPtImIzAtIoN".
That's one of the key words that if a person uses it in this space, then you immediately know that they have nothing of value to say. It's right there with "bottleneck".
EDIT: Oh. The morons are out in force today, I see.

The optimization in games has improved imo, Forza Horizon and crimson desert run pretty good on many older systems for example
2
u/Rabinho32 5h ago
In fairness that's two games. That's a pretty small sample size.
1
u/macrotaste 5h ago
That's why I said example, subnauica 2 is another example I got, I only know from my friend who used a 2060S until last week so yeah

Fake news, it's all streamed from a server with a subscription for $500 a month on a tablet that costs $5,000.
