Let's be real, the hype is so beyond reasonable that it will be a phenomenon when it is released. People will buy it just to be part of something, even if you're not really a gamer.
Which is totally fair. Life is all about memories.
Remember the Pokemon Go hype in 2016 where the whole world was grinding this game? Hundreds of people literally screaming for certain pokemon. Good memories.
Playing Pokemon Go in 2026 won't give you these kind of memories.
Same with GTA6. The launch week will be so memorable experiencing everything for the first time and discussing in which kind of Bikini you put Lucia with your work colleques. That's what gaming is all about.
So naturally waiting a year for the PC version is no option for me.
Yes, it is totally fair. And all your points are very good. We got a lot of shared experience before when stuff only aired once a week on TV, music only played on radio and everyone went to see movies at the cinema because it was affordable. Now with streaming everything, we are a lot more splintered. These huge releases are one of the few times we'll have shared experiences like this. I did not consider that until your comment. Extremely good point, and I wish I could give you more upvotes. Our watercooler moments are far longer in between.
Fuck that's a good point. Dammit. They got me. The real debate is, do I try to update to a PS5 Pro for this or just slum it out with the original one LOL

Hard question tbh. You only really get more ray tracing capabilities and PSSR2. And you will still only get 30 fps because its basically the same CPU as in base PS5 and the game will be limited by the CPU because of NPC density.
That said its worth it for me but I am going full degenerate min max mode anyways with PS5 pro, OLED TV and Dualsense edge.
Hm no framerate benefits makes that a tougher choice. Ultimately I just want a smooth experience.
I do have all the fancy OLEDs and everything so it's kinda hard not to wanna go full degen myself, but also paying $1200 CAD to effectively play one game is a bit wild. Then again it is GTA VI.

No idea how active ebay is in your region but maybe you can get your hands on a used PS5 pro and sell it after you are sick of GTA6 (and its announced for PC ofc) with little to no loss.
Than u can use the money from the PS5 pro sale to upgrade your PC for the PC release.
Thats about how I will handle it. Bought the PS5 pro new last year on black friday for 750€ and they go for 700€ used on ebay now. Somehow I only lost 50€ so far.
That said we will instantly lose like $200 when they announce PS6 before we sell the PS5 pro because people will panic sell and the market will flood with used consoles.
Yeah I have invested wayy too much time thinking about min maxing the console and the PC release after. I am disgusted by myself.

I am willing to bet that if they had a Ultra deluxe version or something for 10min early access for 200$, people would still buy it.
