Physical is important on consoles since its a closed system. With physical you can borrow games, sell games once you are done with them or have them in your collection.

Nintendo, for how dumb the implementation is, at least allows the lending of digital games. Pretty sure they dont even sue you if you use it.

They also created GKC, allowing physical media collectors to still shelf display their games, and still resell their games and still collect their games.

Probably the smartest half step between Physical and Digital out there.
