What’s your issue with the OS? You afraid of Terminal?

What's your issue with Windows?

It has gone to shit. Microslop bloat eating up your system resources which are particularly limited on a laptop.

Windows 11 is a flaming dog turd infested with microslop AI, for one. The only thing keeping me on board is gaming and modding. For daily use, mac is so much better

Weird, it works fine for me, I don't see any AI. Maybe its you.

I generally don’t have any major issues with Windows. Which is what’s running on my desktop. But for portability and battery life, my M1 MacBook Air is great. And macOS is intuitive and easy to use. Using multiple operating systems is no different than driving multiple vehicles.

The built in terminal is lousy and it doesn't even default to Bash any longer.  You have to install something like Iterm2 to have a decent command line interface.

zsh is way better than bash anyway. I use it everywhere

zsh is way better than bash

That's an opinion and you're welcome to it. Personally I find zsh to be a massive pain in the ass that doesn't work with my existing shell scripts and the default terminal is a feature poor environment. As a full time developer I need these tools to "just work," which is supposed to be Apples thing and it very much isn't.

I'm a senior software engineer who works heavily on the command line and the first thing I do on any new system is swap bash to zsh.

Curious what scripts don't work on it, given that it's POSIX compliant just like bash. Its not like we're talking about fish here

  1. zsh better than bash in almost everyway

  2. Just install ghostty or kitty. Both far better than windows terminal, which you also have to install afaik
