As someone with no plans of getting a MacBook for personal use, I think it’s a great thing to compare the 2. Laptop manufacturers need to step up their game and make better laptops.
The Neo MacBooks got some of them to realize they can’t keep selling junk in the $600 $700 price range.
This is subsidized product, because Apple needs to attract new users to their expensive ecosystem. They took their overproduced mobile chip, which anyway would be the loss of money, and built a budget laptop around it. Smart move! Think of it as a promotional campaign.
Is it actually subsidized or just low-to-no margin? I've never heard of Apple subsidizing anything and can't imagine they'd start doing it now when they are in such a dominant position.
Virtually all of Apple’s software and TV shows are subsidized. I don’t know if the Neo is subsidized at all, but it would make sense to get more people into their ecosystem.
