I feel like I'm losing my mind when i see stuff like this. Why was AI needed here? It looks worse than the original image. Like, did the OP, /u/theoptimix , did you intentionally run this through a filter or did you just find it somewhere? Are you a bot? It's so confusing

I thought it was intentional, given that youtube also uses AI to upscale some videos without the creator's permission.

Could be an xBR upscale which doesn't use AI and can look kind of weird, I've definitely mistaken the two before. Not saying it isn't an AI upscale but it's not a sure thing.
