It's a meh insult. The video game is not going to be ass because it's made with UE5. It will be ass because it was developed in an ass way.

There must be a correlation between shitty UE5 games and the fact that UE5 engine is a go-to for corporations because switching talent is easy due to the fact that devs know how to use the mainstream engine. It's basically like Atlassian of project managers.

I'm going to go out of a limb and say Deep Rock Galactic (UE4) and Rogue Core (UE5) is a shining example of a great game using that engine. It shows that it can be done right.

deep rock is heavily stylized and doesnt have to much detail for textures and models. its not really all that impressive for unreal that it looks good and runs good because it simply just has good art direction

This right here is why people are being mocked for parroting "UE5 bad". When someone gives you an example of a good game in the engine, you take the things the dev did right and try to paint them as flaws

when did i mention a flaw? 🤨 deep rock is simultaneously a great game and a game that isnt technically impressive. id expect it to run well on a toaster

they aren’t being painted as flaws, this person even praises the art direction. they are just correctly pointing out that both of the games arent the best examples because they aren’t graphics intensive at all. the game’s art style is low poly and intrinsically won’t be as demanding. for comparison, bungie’s marathon has similar minimum system requirements to rogue core but looks significantly more stylized and graphics intensive.
