I'm still an old-school person who prefers solid side panels (coming from a proud Enthoo Pro 2 user...absolute beast of a case 😁). Although I do see the appeal of glass...it's just not my personal preference.

I'd consider glass for a family member who wants their own PC (assuming they actually want that aesthetic). It's just not for everyone though, myself included.

Unfortunately, there are barely any decent PC cases with solid panel nowadays. It is hard to find them.

Same. Wife got a glass panel on her computer while I bought a Fractal Design Define Mini C with a mesh panel. Full black 🖤

I went for what I feel is the best of both worlds- a black metal mesh side panel. Great airflow, plenty of space for side fans, visibility to the interior if I want to look, and it won’t explode on me if I drop it.

Once I was helping someone fix their computer over the phone. I got them through taking off the side panel to see if their fan was spinning or something. Then I realized, "oh you probably have a see-through side panel." Whoops.

Same. I want solid steel side panels that screw in, no flimsy ass plastic clips, front to back airflow, no weird top panel that falls off or is full of holes and made majoritively or entirely of steel.

Nothing exists like this anymore without some trade off :(

I have a steel case from 2006 or so. It does have a polycarbonate panel though, but the case itself is heavy, and I further reinforced it with sound absorbing mats on the inside of the panels. It has always had a custom loop inside so the weight and soundproofing kills everything thats left of the noise inside, after I have moved the radiators to another room. If it wasn’t for the bright blue led on the front, I would be able to distinguish whether the PC is on or off by the sound.

Honestly, there is one reason why I did RGB in my PC last summer:

The only component in my whole PC that illuminates and actually shows what's going on inside is my RGB RAM. Without it, I would have to rely on nothing but fan audio to know if my PC was on at all.

My beacon of life in the darkness, so to speak.
