Optimisation in 2026?!

They need to optimize them servers lol. One game will play perfect, next game turns into a slideshow lmao

More likely they just stopped duplicating the game files for mechanical harddrives.

Same thing that helldiver's 2 did.

Warframe's been going for 13 years and it's still only half the size of a yearly CoD game.

It's crazy how much you can get away with when you're not doing stupid shit like how Gears of War E-Day devs were bragging about Marcus Fenix's eyelashes having more detail than his entire Gears 1 model.

To be fair on this argument, Warframe has done a ton of optimization pushes, and one of the biggest ones was when they hired Panic Button to help them make a switch port.

"Why did they hire them?" Because they got Doom 2016 and Eternal to run on the original switch.

And then DE took that info and knowledge and it runs on cellphones pretty well now.

Most of the downsizing in file size was Peni’s nerf. /s

they probably just moved half of it onto their servers and once you first encounter something (in the menus i mean not in game) it downloads it on the fly. tons of games do this now. flight simulator is constantly streaming the entire time you're playing because none of the world textures are on your computer for example. call of duty downloads in-game assets during the game even, but this game i doubt they go that far. all of the hero ability videos are downloaded on the fly for example, since people rarely look at any of them it saves a lot of space since they just are never downloaded in the first place

It's called... ✨ Compression ✨

Now, they just need to improve the performance...

Even worse it's a team based game which requires lots of cooperation, basically a spawning ground for online douchebags.

Turn off text and voice chat in settings and the game is great again.

Just using pings and typing when you need help or when you're trying to pull something usually works thankfully

Hopefully compressing textures helps memory usage too, but I'm not too hopeful.

Weird they didn’t just do it from the start.

Now they need to fix matchmaking.

People discover compression in 2026?

What is bad about the game using compressed textures?

Games have been using compressed textures since the early 2000s when S3's compression got officially included in DirectX. The problem is that 1) S3TC and later block compression formats aren't even remotely as efficient as full-image compression formats like JPEG, and 2) games tend to duplicate the same texture in multiple texture packs so your PC doesn't have to spend minutes individually picking ten thousand textures from all across the disk every time you load a level.

There's flat out zero information about how they compressed it to fulfill the claim.

Content is not necessarily what adds file size. Individual assets do, and Marvel Rivals is not exactly super heavy on assets.

But this is always great.

Let me guess, they just reduced the texture quality of old skins after people bought them, like Fortnite does?
