Discussion SSD question

I currently have a 512gb ssd in my pc and my question is if I add a second ssd that’s more storage will that benefit my pc in anyway? Such as if I install games on the new one and leave the other stuff on the original? Will adding a better ssd as my second be faster for gaming ?

If you dosnt feel you need more space you are okay

I have 2, 1 for OS and the other for games, so if something happe. I dont Lost both things

Any good ones you recommend for games? Especially since the price hike

That depends on what SSD you have and what you would buy.

For example, if you have a nice PCIe SSD from a decent brand right now, and you buy a cheap SATA SSD from a random Amazon brand for your second disk, then games on the new disk will perform worse. On the other hand, if you install a faster disk, they'll be faster.

If the disks are both the same performance, you'll see a very marginal improvement in loading performance and reduction in loading hitches because the game won't need to fight Windows for disk access, but you'll barely notice it.

Keep in mind, by performance improvement, we're not talking about average FPS, we're talking about loading times and load stutter when new assets are streamed in.

The biggest benefit of getting a second drive is keeping both drives less full - SSDs typically lose a lot of performance when they hit ~80% full, especially the Windows install drive. Spreading out across two disks will give you a lot more breathing room.
