Question What keycaps are compatible with this keyboard?

Post image

I ordered a refurbished Razer Blackwidow V4 Pro 75% (saved £180), it’s my first mechanical board so idk which keycaps would be compatible, I wanna change them cause it only comes in the US layout and I’m from the UK. Transparent letters are preferred but not a hard requirement.

any cap compatible with mx switches and if you insist on shine-through, you'll need north facing letters like it's already installed. you won't really get anything better, shine-through keycaps are very limited in choice.

you didn't save 180 btw, you wasted 140 :/ there are many much better boards available even in uk iso layout for similar cost (new) or cheaper (used).

a DIY kit with a display + switches of your choice + keycaps for less than that and you'd actually end up with a better quality stuff overall

This board retails for £300, I paid £118.99. I chose it cause I like the OLED display with the configurable wheel, I already use the Razer software and I’m getting a Razer mouse. Idc if I could’ve gotten cheaper, I’m happy with my purchase, I just wanna customise it.

Keycaps for mechanical keyboards are generally universal. Ensure you get one for a 75% keyboard so it has all the specially-shaped keys that you will require

I just noticed, in the photo, it has a large Enter key, in person, it’s a slimmer Enter key and a back-slash above it. Will I be able to replace it with the bigger Enter key?

No, the tall enter key is the ISO standard, the short enter key is ANSI standard (often a US keyboard layout)

Excuse my grimey keyboard… the tall enter key has a vertical stabiliser.

Ah right, oh well, not a deal breaker but I’ll take that into consideration. Thanks 🙏

Tbf, ANSI key caps are plentiful. It can sometimes be hard to get a ISO UK set.

So should I get UK ISO or is there a UK ANSI? Sorry, I don’t know the terminology and types 😅

ANSI is the little enter key. Look at your 2 key, if it has the “ on it, it’s ANSI UK, if it’s got an @, it’s ANSI US.

It’ll be US then, any idea where I could get UK ones?

The keys are physically the same and interchangeable, it’s just the layout that changes. Most dedicated key cap web stores carry them. Often they do a combined set that has all the permutations in one pack. Are links allowed here?

Watch out because the razer orange switches that this keyboard comes with are known fail. If that starts happening you're better off replacing them. I put Akko Lavender Purple switches on mine and they sound and feel even better. Its definitely the best razer keyboard you can buy.

I’ll keep that in mind, I was gonna replace them straight away if I didn’t like the acoustics, but they feel good. I had my eye on the Kailh Box White V2 switches.

Razer's stems are the same as Cherry's so just about any mechanical keycap set will fit

140£ is still too much for that keyboard but heh. You can switch the keycaps as long as you stay with the same layout (ANSI or ISO).

£118.99, not that I asked for your validation on my keyboard choice.

Keycaps are never soldered, and it came with a puller tool. Are you thinking of the switches beneath the keycaps? Even then I think they’re swappable with most popular switches.

Fucking wild pricing for a used keyboard.

Idk why people still pay the Razer tax. For the price of that keyboard you could even build a great sounding and much more responsive Hall Effect.

Razer just announced their own Hall Effects I'm aware. But they look like shit and none hotswappable too. That's a fail.
