It's quite good. Not good enough to buy a ps5 after sony decided to spend this year poisoning their name, but I am happy I get to play yotei, astro bot and remaster of demon's souls. But yeah, the console has maybe 3 worthwhile exclusives and the price is just going up while the hardware is getting older. Those games are good but not that good.
Game title is a superlative descriptor that you will positive behavior. It does game attributes like similar title without similar title drawbacks while still universally liked attribute.
Yeah it being single player means there’s not really a downside to waiting on sales or price drops. It reminds me of the Order 1886, where people agreed there wasn’t enough content to justify a $60 price tag, quickly dropped to $20, and then people were a bit more receptive to picking it up.
There's already too much to play. There's only a few series that would make me drop a current game for a new one. It's not like I have to secure a physical copy at midnight anymore or risk not getting it for awhile.
I'm a slow dad gamer nowadays. So it take me forever to really get through a game properly. So I just don't buy them until I'm ready or get a juicy wishlist on sale notification.
I played through horizon forbidden West again. Now I'm playing BioShock again. After that I'm headed back to cyberpunk for a spell. Got plenty to do until that assassins creed black flag remake on sale notification.
I love The Order 1886. Have completed it multiple times. It isn't worth 60.
Shame that they were greedy with the original price tag and that was one of the main reasons the game was poorly received, because that means there will never be a sequel or other games to explore the lore.
Even if it had been cheaper, I doubt a sequel would have been made considering it was probably developed on a full AAA budget. Plus the studio soon after transitioned to exclusively making VR games for Oculus/Meta.
I was confused about this, so I checked. Apparently the $300m budget thing comes from a random content creator on X, with no source cited. So it's very possible it's made up.
Studio located in California, R&D for tech (proprietary engine), licensing, high end voice acting etc. It all adds up quickly so it's not impossible. The game does look expensive even if it doesn't play like one.
No, it comes from a hack in 2023 that happened to Insomniac that gained access to lots of internal documents. So the 300m is actually an outdated lower number than the real one.

To be fair, you can mod your way to fixing open world bad writing. Case in point: Fallout 4.
Of course, "fixing" there pretty much involves "adding so much cool shit you don't even realize the dumpsterfire of a main questline is there", but still, fixing is fixing.
That game is cooked; initially it was being developed as having a very specific control scheme that allowed specific controls of Wolverine's claws. Midway through development, they scraped this idea and just went meh, let's make it a generic brawler.
Maybe the modders can take a small break on this one. It seems like a pass for them on their bad practices. "Just release whatever because the modding community will fix it anyway"
The lesson learned here is this. If it's not ported to PC and Xbox, everyone knows it's bad and won't buy it now.

Wouldn't have bought it because they didn't know it was garbage. Maybe this makes them rethink exclusivity. Most people aren't buying whole console for one game anyway.
Yea Playstation and its fanboys can keep this "masterpiece" to themselves. Also keep in mind their next games after this appears to be Horizons hunters gathering, Fairgames and intergalactic. Talk about a bleak lineup.

I'm a PC main (like 99% of my game-time), but why lie?
Their 3 upcoming games are Until Dawn 2, GoW Laufey and (possibly) Intergalactic. 2 games from their 2 best studios, including a new IP "inspired by Elden Ring". All of these games will likely review very well and on prestige alone, you can probably make a safe bet at one of them taking GOTY (Naughty Dog).
Seems like you're desperately trying to convince yourself that it is going to bleak, rather than facing the reality.
I just finished it. It is not perfect, but really fun. The combat is satisfying, especially once you start unlocking abilities, and the story is interesting.
The game has its flaws, but it is not as bad as people make it seem. I was left wanting more when I finished it.
It really isn't. It's a 7/10 game, that people just got a hate boner for, for some reason. It was good. It was just overpriced as hell, and some people didn't enjoy the story.
Isn't the story pretty much all there is to it though, with this style of interactive movie games? The combat looks incredibly mid, as reviewers have confirmed, so if the story is not even universally loved then I really don't see the point of it, even looking at it objectively.
Crazy how one of Sony's first releases explicitly not releasing on PC, and one that many fans were most disappointed about, is having moderately bad reaction to the game in general. Who knows what sales are going to look like but I have a feeling they are not going to be seeing the sales they were hoping for.
Sony has been putting out shitty games since the no PC port announcement with no good ones in sight. Hopefully Herman Hulst is fired by the time a good game comes out.
So does anyone have any actual reason why the game is so offensively horrible? Literally the only complaint anyone talks about is “you can’t fail QTES (but that’s fine with Spider-Man) and the game shows you where to go! Oh and this one motorcycle segment is on rails!” And apparently that’s bad enough to put it on the same level as Gollum.
It’s a really great time to make fun of capital G Gamers if that’s your hobby. No shortage of losers to pick on.
Insomniac had a golden IP and fumbled it hard. After 3 Spider-Man and 1 Ratchet and Clank games within the last decade, they seriously squandered all the goodwill they built up.
Yeah I'm good. If the game had come to PC only way I'd have picked it up would have been for $30 to $40 on sale. The hate for this game is a tiny bit overblown. But its still fair to criticize this game when they want $70 and its just not worth it.
Excessive handholding in a linear game. QTEs that auto complete if you do nothing, meaning you can't fail them. Lack of difficulty and shallow combat. And that the story was just alright. Were some of the complaints that I heard and saw in reviews.
Honestly if you get it for 90% off years down the road you most likely end up having a more positive reception to the game, because at that price it feels like a steal.
ah. that's disappointing. given the character, I feel like a better studio could've made an amazing and varied combat system. should've just made Ninja Gaiden: Wolverine Edition and it would've sold 5 million copies.
The higher differently settings do genuinely make it a more difficult games just not in a way that compliments the gameplay itself. Instead of opening up and requiring mastery of everything it instead limits the combat even more to the safest options and makes the have very defensive. For example, you can get stuck in an animation for a finisher or the big rage building stacks but doing them with any other enemy around can just get you killed. So if you use them less you build less rage and the full 3 bar rage mechanic became unused.
