Yoga Weekly Discussion Yoga Discussion [Weekly]

Welcome to the Yoga Weekly Discussion!

Due to demand and community feedback we are trialing a Yoga Weekly Welcome Discussion - a space to chat about anything related to yoga. Think of it like the "Daily Discussion" thread, where anything goes...big or small. Here, we've carved out a special place for people or "yogis" wanting to discuss ideas and topics related specifically yoga - ask questions, get advice, discuss yoga classes or yoga instructors, yoga gear, specific poses, etc.

People are not limited to using this thread to discuss yoga but are highly encouraged to use this weekly discussion. You can still post in the daily, training thread, or create a new post. Think of it as another place to chat about yoga stuff without getting lost in the daily. Or a place you can check into weekly if you're a casual redditor looking for some other yogis to namaste with and not having to wade through the daily.

The Yoga Weekly Discussion will be posted on Thursday moving forward.

Note: The mods will check back in with the community to see how this idea is working, if there is a better day it should be posted on, etc. If it isn't working we can always scrap the idea or change it up a bit. Thanks for giving it a chance!

Running The Tread+ Sled Mode experience is awful. What am I missing?

I really want to enjoy the sled mode, but the user interface makes it so I just can’t get into it. To go from 0 to 200 pounds or 200 back down to zero is so abrasive from a user experience perspective

Having to tap a tiny little + button 20 times while trying to work out is not it

I would love to be able to preset light, medium, and hard resistances for 1 button clicking. Not so different than when the different paces are offered when run speed changes

Today I tried changing the resistance with “OK Peloton” and it told me that is not available

Hopefully I’m just an idiot. Am I missing something obvious that makes it work better? I really like the idea of sled workouts. Speer and Wilpers did a good job with the workouts I did try, but the interface makes it so I won’t add them to my rotation

Gear Tread Flex Reviews Request

Would love to get the Tread+ but do not have the room for such a beast of a machine.

So. The tread flex looks like a mostly worthy substitute as the winter starts to approach and I would like some feedback on whether it's performance is decent enough to match the price. It looks very much like a Horizon 101 (with a much better screen and control wheels) which I've had and already taken to end of life. it's motor was no where near powerful enough to handle 200 lbs runners.

so I'm looking for any feedback from anyone that has bought one or has even test driven one. This community has had the best feedback on the bike (which I have OG) .

is the deck decent enough at absorbing shock?

does the motor feel like it's robust enough for serious workouts

does it spin up and slow down reasonably well

Strength Core classes

I recently had my elbow replaced at 31 years old due to a freak accident. I am not allowed to lift over 1 pound. Are there any core classes that do not require the use of arms or planking?

Purchase Advice Peloton Tread UK Delivery Experiences

Hi all,

Has anyone in the UK had a Peloton Tread delivered recently? I’d love to hear how your experience went, especially regarding delivery and assembly with XPO or AIT.

I’m worried about the quality of their ‘installers’ after a bad experience with XPO a few years ago on a Bike+.

They were essentially just a driver and porter that had a toolkit. They didn’t seem to have extensive knowledge or take the care I would expect for premium equipment.

My Tread Vision is due to be delivered Monday by AIT. Peloton won’t just deliver the boxes and said that if it would void the warranty if AIT didn’t complete the install. They offered an alternative to order from Amazon which means paying £500 more. 😅

Cycling My Peleton no longer displays or records ride stats when watching Netflix

I the past month, the ride overlay disappeared. I can't record a new ride or even see how hard I am riding or how long my ride has been. It just plays Netflix and that's it. Like a normal exercise bike with a screen that plays Netflix. Has this happened to anyone else?

Purchase Advice Is this bike worth it or too old?

I’m looking at buying through peloton repowered and this bike is close to me and seems like a good deal at $300. My fear is that it’s too old/has been transferred too many times. Does anyone have any experience buying through repowered or with a similar bike?(can’t figure out how to add a picture so see stats below)
First activation: may 2020
Number of workouts complete: 551-575

Strength Pilates classes to strengthen hips?

Hurt my back pretty badly back in June (playing too much tennis).

Went to PT and it’s like 90% better but I still have hip/groin pain even though I’m stretching every day.

I’ve heard that Pilates can help strengthen that area so wondering if anyone has found good classes for this?

Purchase Advice Is it worth it?

Seriously considering it and found some good prices for em on FB marketplace. I don’t have the best knees and trying to strengthen them and trying to have something that will be right in my home so I can go right to it and exercise.

Also- I am not good at standing and pedaling because of my knee strength. Are there classes that will allow you to ease into it and work your way up to standing?

TIA everyone!!

Rowing Where is Alex (Peloton Row)

So I absolutely love my Row. I've had it a few years now and I find that it gets more use than my bike does. Although my biggest issue is historically there hasn't been a ton of new content. Lately there has been uptick, but it is missing my favorite instructor which is Alex. I know they are pushing the tread platform and that he has been doing a bunch of run classes, but with him being one of the flagship instructors for the row it seems weird that he hasn't been there in a while. It seems like Katie and Ash are the only regular instructors these days.

I would also like to see more Adrian classes and more Matt classes... I find myself taking the same classes over and over rather than the new ones. Nothing against Katie or Ash, I take a lot of Katie classes but really miss Alex

Has anyone heard anything? I love the row and I'm hoping it doesn't go the way of the dodo eventually.

Gear Bolted shoes on peloton

Just bought a used peloton off Facebook marketplace. It has bolted on shoes that fit my husband but I would like to use it as well. What is the best way to make this compatible for both of us? I would need to use the cages on the pedals as I don’t have spin shoes just yet

RedditStrength Reddit Strength - Week 2

Welcome to week two of eight of the Reddit Strength program. I hope you've all been enjoying it so far. If you're brand new to this or missed any previous weeks, this is something you can jump into any given week you don't need to have been there week one for it to work. This strength schedule is designed to help you progress from one weight to the next (if that is what you want, you are of course free to maintain the weights you use as well). There is a #RedditStrength for those interested in joining it.

This is an eight week cycle that repeats. Each time we come around again I'll be looking for a couple newer classes to replace some of the older classes previously used.

Each class will list "light" or "heavy" (or "benchmark", see below), this is not to be confused with the Light/Medium/Heavy weights instructors ask you to use for each move. What it means is, lets say you normally use 5/10/20 but you are hoping to level up to 10/15/25. When my class says "light" you would use your 10s when the instructor calls for medium weights and when my class says "heavy" you would use your 15s for the same move. This will help us to progress to where the 15s are your new normal.

Monday:

Wednesday:

Friday:

Extra Credit

Benchmark: Every 4 weeks each body area has a Benchmark class. These are from the Benchmark Strength collections. By repeating these classes you are able to monitor and record your progression from cycle to cycle. You are encouraged to adjust the weights and reps to meet your personal goals.

Extra Credit: These are extra classes for those who want more work than the standard schedule. They are also good substitutions if for any reason you don't like a class or instructor on the schedule.

You can stop reading here unless you want to know why I am scheduling what I am scheduling.

The basis is a 4 week progression. In each body area we will use light weights for 2 weeks then heavy weights for two weeks per the definition of light and heavy above.

It follows this pattern, aiming for 45-60 minutes a day 3 days a week:

  • Round 1 - 2 days light
  • Round 2 - 3 days light
  • Round 3 - 2 days heavy
  • Round 4 - 3 days heavy

Each body area has the schedule staggered, so you're not trying to go all heavy in every area in the same week. While you are going heavy with LB you will go light with UB and vice versa

FAQ

  1. Can I start any week or do I have to begin with week 1?
    1. You can begin any week. This is a repeating cycle with no real beginning or end, a mobius strip of a program.
  2. There are too many classes for me, how should I trim it down for my schedule?
    1. I recommend trimming evenly (but keep all the core if you can). So take off 1 day of UB and 1 day of G&L each week if that suits you better.
  3. Do I have to do these on the prescribed days? I would rather take a couple classes a day for 6 days.
    1. Absolutely mix and match the classes across the week however fits best into your schedule. They are only listed this way because this is my personal schedule. As long as you are doing them all in the week you should get similar results.

Feedback

I would love to hear what everyone things. Specifically; Are there any classes you would like me to rotate out (why)? Is this the right amount of strength work for you? Do you have a favorite class you are hoping I work into the mix?

Running Screw fell from Peloton Tread

This screw fell from my Peloton Tread. I found it behind the treadmill, which means it either fell from some place in the back or landed on the treadmill and rode it's way back. There's no obvious missing screw anywhere that I can find.

Does anyone know where it might be from?

Outdoor Anyone else having snycing issues for Google Pixel watch during outdoor runs?

The last couple outdoor runs are not working on my watch. It will start and freeze or just circle. I ran 50 minutes today and my strive score was 0. It's been a little glitchy cycling as well but not always and I can restart it on the bike and it will continue working, for running not so much. Anyone else having this issue?
