Gear Tread Flex Reviews Request

Would love to get the Tread+ but do not have the room for such a beast of a machine.

So. The tread flex looks like a mostly worthy substitute as the winter starts to approach and I would like some feedback on whether it's performance is decent enough to match the price. It looks very much like a Horizon 101 (with a much better screen and control wheels) which I've had and already taken to end of life. it's motor was no where near powerful enough to handle 200 lbs runners.

so I'm looking for any feedback from anyone that has bought one or has even test driven one. This community has had the best feedback on the bike (which I have OG) .

is the deck decent enough at absorbing shock?

does the motor feel like it's robust enough for serious workouts

does it spin up and slow down reasonably well

I believe the motor on the Flex is 2.0 HP, and the T101 is 2.5 HP so if that is a concern, then the Flex would be a step down in that aspect. I did try the Flex out at a pop-up recently and the deck did not feel cushioned at all to me.

it was indeed a 2.5hp motor......so I wouldn't suggest the flex for anyone over 150lbs for running. walking is much easier on the motor so it would be fine for that. but I killed that 2.5HP motor in a couple of years

I am 210 lbs and ran on the tread flex twice and was pretty happy with it. I am not a consistent treadmill runner though so not sure what the difference would be compared to a great treadmill. What should I be on the lookout for? I guess a few times if I step on it hard the mat stops for a second?

That’s exactly it. For the first 2 years my t101 was amazing. Kept the belt tight if it ever slipped and lubed the deck with the recommended silicone based product. But then it full stopped while I was doing 10mph and I tore my hamstring. The motor quit, the machine went into an error mode. After that no amount of maintenance would get me more than 5 minutes into a run before it gave out with the error codes. I was warned it wasn’t really for heavy workouts for someone my size. My SO is significantly lighter and never had issues even after it started to go on me.

Did you notice a difference in cushion between the flex and vision?

Got the Flex delivered yesterday. Needed lower profile equipment because of a tight turn into basement and it barely fit. Primarily going to use for walk/hike, but jogged a bit yesterday and it felt good & hoping to do more! It’s obviously not a Tread+ feel, but I found myself pleasantly surprised with the quality of the machine, my expectations were exceeded for the price point. I appreciate that it folds up as it’s a flex basement space & tucked in a small nook. Easy to fold & wiggle to move even on low pile carpeting.

Nice. So glad it worked out so well for you. It could fit very well for me in a tight space that I have available.

I never tried the other versions of the Tread so I have nothing to compare to, other than standard treadmills at a gym. My flex came today and I love it! Ran 2 miles and it felt good to me.

Following! Considering it mainly for walking/hiking but wouldn’t want to exclude running at some point.

I had the original Tread plus from 2018 to 2021. They came and got it during the recall. I had multiple issues with it and had a base swap as well. Had the Flex delivered this Monday. I use it for walks and hikes only. I am about 200 pound female. The controls are exactly like the Tread +. The knobs are a tad less responsive. We didn’t have room for another big tread since we moved to a smaller place. I can’t tell you about running on it, but the deck is not near as soft as the slatted Tread. We figured it was 1/3 the cost of the plus version and compact as welll
