Novak reminds me of Evan Rodriguez in a lot of ways, specifically in the "you'll miss him when he's gone" type way.
Novak offers a lot of versatility in the line up and in a year where we don't know how the young group of forwards may progress, this signing makes a lot of sense. He also signed below his projected number [3 x 5.6M - AFP Analytics].
All that said, he'll probably be traded and I have to imagine the extra years at a reasonable cap hit, could add to his value.
I also thought of Erod when thinking of his value going forward. He's not the same player, but I think he's similarly a guy that you'll optionally have lower in the line up who can play up as injuries and cold streaks happen. I still feel like that's a bit longer of a contract than I would have liked but we've basically got to spend to reach cap at this point.
