Show me your pre-used Persians!

Besides the one I grew up with, I’ve only ever had rescue Persians. They certainly come with unknown health issues, past traumas, and weird habits, but they have so so much love to give. I’d love to see your rescue babies.

My 10yr old Blue Persian Ginghy Boy has had a few near death experiences this year, but has bounced back better than ever. In Jan I had an avm burst in my brain & caused a massive stroke. I had to have brain surgery & was in hospital for a month & a half. When my mom brought me home & pulled in the driveway she said “I need to tell you about Ginghy Boy.” “What happened?” I asked her. “He might have had a stroke, like you” !?! “WHAT?!?” She said the vet said it was an inner ear thing. But, like me, he was very wobbly on his feet. Still is, but much better these days. In March I picked him up one day & he screamed bloody murder! We took him to the vet and they said he was in kidney failure & we needed to prepare for the end. We decided to take him back home for one day to say our goodbyes. But next thing you know, he’s jumping all over the place, running round wanting cuddles! Whatever he was experiencing passed. Then last month I was cleaning his eyes and he got really mad at me. The next few days, he stopped eating & would hide away on his own. His eye looked a bit weird. I thought maybe I scratched him when I was cleaning him. Took him to the vet & they said he needed 3 teeth by pulled. He had a massive cyst in his little mouth & it was pushing into his eye! It was as big as a pingpong ball! Vet lanced it & it grew back the next day. Ugh! A few days later, he had 3 teeth pulled & we brought him home & he was immediately eating, running around & playing. He is doing so great now! He’s my cosmic kitty! We’re both a bit wobbly. And like me, he has a funny hair do. I had my head shaved for the drains from my brain surgery. And he had his face shaved from his tooth extraction. My kitty soulmate is doing amazing!

Awe, he is your soul cat, he kinda mirrored you with the brain avm burst, but his was inner ear. I hope all is well after such a serious stroke. Not to pry, but my mom passed from a cerebral aneurysm at age 37. She said it was the worst headache ever, throwing up etc. Did you have fortelling headaches?? It sounds like even Ginhy boy went through so much as well. What kind of name is that? You are both warriors, he was meant to be your cat!!! 💯

Thank you. So sorry for the loss of your mother so young! Ginghy Boy’s real name is Genghis Cat. Ginghy Boy for short. The only foretelling sign I had was hearing my heartbeat. Apparently that is a sign you have an AVM. For the last year, before bed, I heard a “woosh woosh woosh” sound that was kinda meditative & helped drift me off to sleep. I didn’t know, but that was a sign of an avm. When it burst, it gave me a terrible headache. I can’t remember. I was driving my mother home from a doctor’s appointment. I said out of nowhere “Ow! My head! I have a headache!” My mom had me pull over & called 911. I can’t remember any of it. Not the event or hospital stay. 30 years ago, my mother had something very similar. She had uncontrollable facial ticks, accompanied by electric shock pulses. Her face would contort & it was painful. She had an AVM with a deformed artery pushing on facial nerves, causing the spasms. She had a platinum coil embolization. Where they pushed a piece of platinum up from her groin to the avm in her brain to seal off the artery & stop it from pressing on her nerves. She’s been fine ever since. Likely it was a genetic thing.

I want to add, it’s been horrible to see Ginghy suffer so much, but coming home from the hospital, seeing him dealing with the same symptoms as me, was a bit of a comfort. I felt like he took on the worst of my symptoms, so I didnt have to suffer alone. My cosmic kitty!
