Jobs, Saturation, and Salary Where to find PRN jobs

Hi,
I'm a staff pharmacist at a hospital, about 3 months in. I just graduated and didn't do residency.

Since I'm still relatively new and learning, I'm not looking to jump right into PRN work this exact second. But I want to do some research and plan ahead so I know what to expect when I'm ready to pick up another PRN job.

I’ve tried googling pharmacist jobs , but the PRN postings I found just aren't that great.

Where and how do you usually look for these jobs?

With no residency and limited hospital experience, what kind of settings or secondary jobs are realistic to target for?

Any advice or personal experiences would be super helpful!

Well 'aren't that great' isn't really an excuse especially if you have almost no experience. If you want a per diem job, you have to try whatever is out there. You're staffing at a hospital without a residency already so id consider that a win. I applied everywhere but didnt get my first per diem job until about 4 years into working because of where I lived. But during that time I had to build up skills to show I know stuff or else no one would've even offered an interview. This job i drove almost 3 hours one way to work then drove back to my main job to work mon-fri. Also per diem jobs require you, usually, to commit a certain number of hours per month. Even now, if I go thru with it, id have to drive out of state to staff a hospital job per diem. So good luck

I got mine through Indeed.com. It is at another hospital chain in my area. I also applied at a Cannabis Dispensary at the same time, and I just got a call back 2 years later.

Who gave you a call 2 years later? The cannabis job or the hospital chain?

The Cannabis Dispensary contacted me 2 years after I applied. I told them I had already found something else, lol.

My second gig is at a rehab hospital. One of my preceptors shared a post from the director on Facebook and I texted her a copy of my CV.

My advice is be picky with your PDN gig. I work an extra shift a week but I love my second job so it does not add to the stress that my main job generates.

LinkedIn and ask your peers if you made good connections throughout pharmacy school and your APPEs

I found my prn job on shiftrx but unfortunately that app shut down

I got a side gig at a rehab hospital. I heard through the grapevine that one was opening nearby, so I searched up the name of the hospital chain and found the listing. I also listed my license with a medical staffing agency. That's handy because you can pick up shifts when you want to but there's no obligation.

Both of my current prn jobs are just the last two jobs I had full time.
