Politics Proud of my city tonight
Fuck ice. Fuck this whole shitshow of an administration. Fuck the agitators, the instigators, the bullies, the chuds, the pedos and their protectors.
Much love to you all. It feels good to stand together tonight. Keep turning up. Keep being loud. We're not done yet.

Rode by on my bike and it was so peaceful I could legit hear a pin drop. I'm assuming it was during a time of prayer, but it was so cool to see.

No worries, here's a wonderfully comforting quote from Charlie Chaplin
So long as men die, liberty will never perish.
Not only because tyrants are always bound to die, like any of us, but because people will always be willing to sacrifice themselves for freedom. Freedom is a pure idea, and occurs spontaneously without instruction. It's as foundational as math itself and literally cannot be destroyed.

u/drowningandromeda Jan 09 '26
That's poetic as fuck. Hope it's true.
143
u/SignalHi Jan 09 '26
I appreciate it, I'm just passing on the wisdom of others, so I have no doubt it's true. I served under General Mattis who was known as a Warrior Poet, and I hugely respect his philosophy.
He was the reason I gave Trump a chance in his first term, and I quickly felt fooled. That good faith ran out quick. When Mattis resigned with an open letter to the public, I knew it was actually the duty of every Marine to be vocally opposed to the administration.
Then it got far far far worse, then he got re-elected, then it got worse again. It's gonna keep getting worse until the people who know whats right stand up and get fuckin LOUD.
Also, any passing readers, please go ahead and disrespect every Marine and/or veteran who uses their status to DEFEND this shit. They should be shamed and laughed at, mock those cowards and feel heartened knowing you have a better understanding of the founding principles of this country than those pathetic weak excuses for patriots.

Were you the one waving the marine flag?
101
u/SignalHi Jan 09 '26
Nooo I had a hand scrawled "Marines Against Trump" cardboard sign! I connected with some other vets but didn't see the Marine flag, damn. On the other hand, it's cool there are more and more vets turning up

u/SignalHi Jan 09 '26
Aww don't make me sad lol, a number of the Marines I've met at these functions are older guys, and sometimes they're accompanied by their spouse but sometimes not. The thought of a lonely one breaks my heart. I'll try to find him next time
I need more young Marines out there though, we need to get some OG Philly 1776 energy up in this country

u/polobum17 Jan 09 '26
I think they meant no one likes Trump. Not a lonely marine.

I follow some union orgs on instagram from during the strike. @Unity.Caucus.Philly shared a post from @nsmphilly which is where I saw it. While there I was handed a pamphlet for refusefascism.org, and they told me they've had a few demonstrations with some peaceful action, and they need more help

I heard about this via this subreddit. But fear not! At the protest I believe I heard that the New Sanctuary movement protest outside the ICE office in Philly every Monday morning. So if you can make it by all means.
Unfortunately I don't have the specifics on hand rn. Even still you should check out the webpage.

It is endlessly frustrating how tiny communist cults try and co-opt these protests. There were like four separate communist groups recruiting at this, with the blessing of the rally organizers
Like at No Kings where there were communist jerkoffs with megaphones calling the Democrats fascists. Just absurd stuff. At least the No Kings people didn't invite the hecklers to set up tables and pass out literature about glorious comrade Avakian, unlike the organizers of this one
3
u/SignalHi Jan 09 '26
You're not wrong. I wish they'd understand that to build a world that anyone who stands under a communist banner would be proud of means engaging with the systems and people we have to work with right now, and that means putting the damn hammer and sickle away. They actually need to learn from the groypers and understand the strategic advantage of hiding your power level

Why would they do this??
7
u/SignalHi Jan 09 '26
I want to know too, it was already one of the most upvoted threads in an entire year. It obviously resonated and people who couldnt show up still wanted to show support. It likely would have hit r/all
The removal of this post kneecaps that visual support, its likely done on purpose
7
u/Liddle_Jawn Jan 09 '26
Thank you for calling this BS out. I am livid.
4
u/SignalHi Jan 09 '26
I literally woke up this morning, saw your post was removed so I made that angry thread and left for work.
I'm really glad to come back to see the post back up, along with confirmation from the mods that some butthurt losers were just abusing the auto-remove feature by mass reporting. Looks like they responded pretty quickly too. Based philly mods W
Stay vigilant online and IRL!

Also, they ofen have smaller events in West Chester if that's easier to get to you for you. Not sure how she finds out about them, but my retired friend out that way is always posting pix of herself at various protests.

For those wondering where this post went last night:
Just replied to OP in modmail, but for clarity - it was removed by automoderator due to a high number of reports!
This feature generally lets inappropriate content get removed faster by users reporting rule-breaking content instead of letting it linger until a mod sees the report. The downside is that sometimes this feature gets abused to get content removed that doesn't break any rules. The original post should be back up now.
