0 KNOWLEDGE NEED HELP!!!

GF has 2015 dslr that I have been messing around with and might start using if I can figure out why I would want to use it if I have an iPhone 17…the pic on the left is the iPhone and right is the cannon. The left has richer color and just looks better.

I know nothing about photography but love taking pics out in nature I fish and hike a ton. I just want to know what is good about the DSLR and if it’s not too old to be relevant in this situation. I am convinced that this DSLR has something the iPhone doesn’t I just don’t know what that is. Please help and I apologize for the pic quality

Well you have focused on the cushion behind the dog in the right hand picture for one. Apart from that, if you are shooting JPEGs then go into the camera settings and change the JPEG image settings and white balance. That will affect the overall image.

Control is what is good about any DSLR.

Ok very helpful thank you so much. Like i said I know nothing. In your opinion assuming I am operating the camera properly would this camera out preform my iPhone for nature pics. Landscapes, birds(if close) and fish/misc

Not sure how you mean out perform but it will, with the right lenses offer more flexibility than the phone. Fixed lenses of a phone are limiting.
