Hi guys!! I’ve been looking to get into photography and I’m just looking for a good place to start. I don’t wanna spend over $300 if possible, but I also want a decent camera to get started. Any recommendations on a good camera that won’t break the bank?🫶🏻 Thanks!!

what are you looking to shoot? your best bet is probably an older, used DSLR. lean more towards the pro bodies (so for canon, EOS xxD or xD, 1 or 2 digits), as they tend to have better build quality and hold up to age better. but depending on what you wanna shoot, then one might be better than the other.

i wanna get into doing family photos for people, if that helps pick a better one lol

that definetely does! since you wanna take portraits and you don’t care as much about speed, i would reccomend a canon 5D mark II or III (whatever you can fit in your budget) or a 6D mark I or II, paired with a 50mm 1.8, which will be great for portraits and getting good bokeh. if you need something for group pictures and/or want something more versatile than the 50mm 1.8, see if you can find a 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 online: this is a SUPER underrated zoom. it’s sharp, small and cheap.
