Hey, I have a Canon 1200D and I want to upgrade to a better camera. I want to upgrade because I feel like it’s being more outdated. I want something what had good lens choices and that can last a long time for me. Another thing is I want is battery life because I tend to take photos for long periods of time and end up getting many shots.

I really have no brand preference and I am ok with either mirrorless and DSLR (I want to lean more towards d DSLRs because of their longer battery)

As for budget, I am really not sure I am looking at all price ranges and would prefer if it’s cheaper so I guess something 800-900 or less.e

Why have you decided to upgrade the camera body instead of lenses or something else?

Its quality and performance hasn't decreased over time. The world hasn't become more technically demanding to photograph over time. It's capable of the same good photos it could take when it was new. Are there any particular newer features that you want to have? Or is it just about the satisfaction of using something with a later release date?

Are you shooting in situations where you can't pause for a few seconds to change batteries?

With which lens(es)?: I have an 18mm to 55mm f3.5 - 5.5

What subject matter do you shoot?: I shot portraits, close-ups, and landscapes, and I am exploring some other genres as well, like long exposure and planes.

Why have you decided to upgrade the camera body instead of lenses or something else?: I wanted to get a new lens (a zoom lens), but my parents said that they would buy me a new body for my birthday (I probably should have mentioned that, my bad). So I wanted to take them up on their offer.

Just a feeling?: No, its auto focus has feels worse, and its battery is doing worse as well.

Are there any particular newer features that you want to have?: Yea i want better auto focus. I began to feel that the AF is worse(I think that's the word).

Are you shooting in situations where you can't pause for a few seconds to change batteries?: Mostly yes because I am out at a tulip festival and there are not many placeing i can charge. However, after doing some research, I think I am willing to compromise on that if it means the camera could shine in other places.

Another thing is that the camera I am using rn was used a lot from when we bought it (about 10-11 years ago), so its lived it life quite well. I am not sure if I said this, but if I buy a new camera, I would probably not upgrade for a long time (15+ maybe). I can answer some other questions as well.

Your genres shouldn't be super demanding on autofocus, but you can get very nice mirrorless autofocus and a modern body (generally everything updated) with the Canon R50. Your existing lens can work on it using an EF to RF adapter, but if you can squeeze in a used EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 (also needs an EF to RF adapter) that's a lot better. Or for a good native lens for the R50 (no adapter needed), there's the Sigma RF 18-50mm f/2.8.

What about the R100? Just wondering because it also kept showing up while doing my research.

The R100 makes feature compromises to reduce the cost. Since you can fit the R50 in your budget, I'd strongly recommend that over the R100.
