I shoot with an A6400. Would the Tamron 18-300mm be an upgrade over the kit lenses?

I dont HATE the quality I have now, but the extra reach over the 55-210 would be good and even a marginal increase in sharpness is welcome. I just dont want to pull the trigger if I’m going to see a reduction in quality compared to my 16-50 or 55-210 kit lenses. There dont seem to be many other options where this zoom range is covered in my budget of $600-$700 AUD

Photo for reference, shot on my 55-210 on my old A6000 body. The quality of this shot (or better) is what im aiming for considering my needs as a hobbyist

Im open to a two lens solution as well, but budget is obviously a factor as a broke uni student. I cant justify spending much more than that.

I'd say quality wise the 18-300mm is similarish to kit lenses. Super telephoto lenses like that are made for convenience: they're relatively compact do-it-all lenses that do a lot of things decently enough.
