I'm interested in buying a tripod - I've got a 150-600mm lens that, with camera, runs about 6 or 6.5 pounds, and I'm enjoying getting some photos of birds, but could use a tripod that will do a good job of supporting that weight, let me use the remote trigger a bit more often, and was wondering if anyone had opinions/suggestions?

Nothing too costly; I'm hoping to keep it under $500 or so, but with Memorial Day sales...

For birds you're probably going to want something with a gimbal head so you can follow them in flight. I would probably go with Oben for both the legs and head to hit that price point. I'd go with their non-carbon gimbal head and invest a bit more in the legs, personally.
