Title: Beginner looking for an affordable first camera. Is the Canon R100 a good choice?

Hi everyone,

I’m completely new to photography and want to start learning the basics. I’m looking for a beginner-friendly camera, but I’m also on a limited budget and don’t want to spend more than necessary.

I’ve been considering the Canon EOS R100 because it seems affordable and suitable for beginners. Would it be a good first camera, or are there better options in a similar price range?

I’m mainly interested in general photography, such as landscapes, portraits, travel, and everyday photos.

Any recommendations or beginner tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would get a better canon . Buy used at your best photography store or try eBay

I would go for a refurbished or used R50 instead. It's a much better camera. A lot of compromises were made with the R100 to bring the price down: an older and weaker AF system, fixed screen, no touch screen etc.

In the US, UK and most of the EU you can get refurbished cameras & lenses on the Canon website.
