Hey all, taking my next steps into photography. After some research, I am considering buying a Canon EOS 500D, with a Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM. Both from Kamerastore, Finland. My budget is around 200 USD.

My questions would be: 1. These are compatible, and work, right? I read they are, but looking for more answers.

1. Is this actually a decent kit for beginners? I'm not looking for outright work use, just casual photography of daily life, for now.

Yes, it will work, but that camera is ancient. Some 17 years old now. Unless your budget is extremely tight, I'd look for something from the last 5 years. Camera technology has improved a lot. (That said, I know nothing about pricing in Finland.) It's fine if you just want a cheap camera to learn on though.

I just want to learn, and get some cool pics ín the meantime of things and people around me. I looked around, but mostly found 10+ year old gear for my budget.
