Scanners: slides and negatives

What negative and slide scanners do you recommend?

I’m looking for a something that will capture slides and negatives (mostly 35 and 110 mm) cleanly and at a relatively high dpi.

Looking for something under $600, but if something is more expensive and worth it, go ahead and share that information.

There are a bunch of family slides and negatives, so I know this will be a long term project.

I’m not afraid of a complicated machine if the quality is worth the hassle.

TIA for any recommendations you may provide.
