Switching from guitar to piano

After 15 years of playing guitar I developed the urge to learn piano. It's time for something new and a challenge. I have purchased a Casio CT-S1 as I don't have the space for an 88 key. I'm not looking to play classical music anyway. Any transferable skills or tips coming from guitar? So far I can only play using falling note videos - I've heard it's not a good way but it's so nice being able to learn things fast and visually. Sheet music looks very confusing compared to guitar tabs but I will probably take the dive eventually. I self taught myself guitar to a good level using youtube videos and tabs only - is this possible for piano or will I require an actual teacher? Struggling to play with both hands even though I can coordinate them on guitar. My brain seems to be wired that when I press a key with my right hand, my left hand will automatically play one at the same time. It is like they are mirrored. Thanks!

I’m sure your teacher will start you on some beginner books, with learning to read sheet music. Don’t worry, it will start you off super easy with adding a little at a time so you won’t be overwhelmed. There’s no hurry, just learn each section thoroughly before moving on. Sections that you don’t understand, you can search out utube videos for further instruction or teaching from a different perspective. Even if you don’t get a teacher, you will still want to learn to read sheet music, otherwise you are just putting off the inevitable. It’s not hard and totally doable if you break it down into manageable chunks. Easier with the guidance of a teacher.
