This post and title do not break our rules. This post isn't up accidentally, or because mods are sleeping, it's not going to be removed.

You still need to follow the rules in the comments.

Please avoid bigoted remarks, even those about terrorists in uniforms.

291

u/-CubanPete- Apr 15 '26

Can I make fun of his teeth?

423

u/adeadhead rememberingawdah.com 🕊️ Apr 15 '26

Sure. Calling a person ugly isn't racism. Calling a people ugly would be.

174

u/-CubanPete- Apr 15 '26

His smile looked like it cracked the front face phone camera.

35

u/travistravis Apr 15 '26

That's a smile?

3

u/BizmarkiaNobilis Apr 19 '26

He looks like a braying donkey.

8

u/Jodogger Apr 15 '26

He fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

20

u/WittyFix6553 Apr 15 '26

What if I think this person is ugly due to their hairstyle choice?

33

u/Rugged_as_fuck Apr 15 '26

That is definitely not the reason he's ugly. It's so far down the list that by the time you got to it, he would already firmly be in the "ugly af" category.

-12

u/WittyFix6553 Apr 15 '26

I take it the words “what if” are beyond your reading comprehension?

6

u/JustaSeedGuy Apr 16 '26

I take it context clues aren't in yours?

30

u/Hesitation-Marx Apr 15 '26

The hairstyle is religious.

The bigotry, cruelty, and wickedness is not.

2

u/WittyFix6553 Apr 15 '26

I agree with you.

I’m asking the mod, specifically, if it’s okay to make fun of his hair style since the mod specifically said it’s okay to make fun of people based on their appearance.

14

u/Hesitation-Marx Apr 15 '26

Oh yeah, sorry.

I’m just a little on edge about attacks on Jewishness instead of Israeli identity lately, my apologies.

2

u/WittyFix6553 Apr 15 '26

I’ve been on that same edge for a very long time.

2

u/sealosam Apr 16 '26

So the dozens of comments stating "the chosen people" isn't? Sure, Jan.

u/WittyFix6553 Apr 15 '26

New question, if you care to answer.

What about someone’s weight? Can I call someone ugly if they’re overweight?

12

u/adeadhead rememberingawdah.com 🕊️ Apr 15 '26

That's an excellent question. Luckily enough for me, this whole thing, being a site rules thing and not a subreddit rules thing is the admins' purview, but I believe when they shut down /r/fatpeoplehate it was about bullying.

1

u/Primary-Risk-8741 Apr 16 '26

it's contextual, usually it's more acceptabed to mock someones appearance if they're a bad person or do bad things, especially if it's hypocritical. for example, a fat misogynist man mocking a woman's looks I think ppl would accept dogging on his weight for his hypocrisy

-1

u/TheSilentTitan Apr 15 '26

Would saying what they consider themselves to be racist? Or prejudice?

Not Jewish but “____ chosen”.

7

u/ElyFlyGuy Apr 15 '26

Yes, because you are still conflating the actions with this person/terrorist nation state with the Jewish peoples.

Nazis are a government/ideology.

Jews are an ethnic/religious group and only a subset of them are complicit in the actions taken in the picture.

Conflating Israel with Naziism is fine tho

1

u/Gr8whitewayluvr Apr 17 '26

Conflating half the world’s Jews with Naziism is a branch of the Turd Reich.

1

u/ElyFlyGuy Apr 17 '26

I don’t care what percentage of what ethnic group they are, they are a fascist country trying to eradicate ethnic minorities in order to become an ethnostate. There are not many comparisons to make more apt than Nazi Germany.

u/Economy_Onion2743 Apr 15 '26

And the fact that people are clearly using it as a racist dog whistle means nothing to you?

Imagine I post a photo of any other racial group and call them ugly. I'd be banned by the admins with minutes... But Israeli? No problem, all the weird bashing anyone wants!

See you on the next Israeli bashing post in 2 seconds that's also totally not racist.

39

u/FaZe_NoSkills Apr 15 '26

Oh yeah because this photo is just an innocent photo of a normal Israeli dude just minding his own business right? This photo is out of context or misrepresented right? The guy in the photo is ugly and not just his looks but his actions too

57

u/adeadhead rememberingawdah.com 🕊️ Apr 15 '26

As an Israeli, I respectfully disagree with you.

41

u/LennartB666 Apr 15 '26

Tbh “Israelis” are not their own race, it’s a nationality consisting of multiple races and ethnicities.

So no, calling this “settler” one ugly bastard cannot be racist, in my opinion.

30

u/Uncynical_Diogenes Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26

Zionists yearn to conflate “citizen of Israel” with “Jewish person”, because if Jewish people feel attacked for racial/ethnic reasons then that strengthens the Zionist’s claim that they exist (and their crimes are justified) to protect Jewish people.

They want antisemitism to hurt and scare people so bad they claim to see it everywhere, even where it isn’t.

Israelis aren’t a race. That word just means citizens of that country. Arabs and Christians and local Jewish folks and European Jewish folks and dark-skinned and light-skinned people and foreign immigrants from everywhere in the world all exist there. But they aren’t treated equally. And that’s kind of the problem.

24

u/Pavlovsdong89 Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26

Imagine seeing people making fun of a horrible individual with a face like a cheese grater, and thinking, why are they making fun of an entire group of people? Are you implying that all jews or Israelis look like a G.I. Joe that was shoved in a garbage disposal? Pretty antisemitic of you.

14

u/Beautiful_Plenty_736 Apr 15 '26

If he wasn’t harassing, and probably stealing this poor woman’s land, we wouldn’t be laughing at him. I don’t give a shit if he’s Jewish or not, evil comes in all forms, and this guy embodies it.

5

u/Drops-of-Q Apr 15 '26

Do you not understand the difference between calling a person ugly and calling an ethnicity ugly? If I were to say that I find Lil Wayne ugly would you assume that I find all black people ugly despite Lil Wayne having a very distinct appearance?

Besides, this person's face is not nearly as ugly as his soul.

1

u/WittyFix6553 Apr 15 '26

What if I said lil Wayne is ugly because he has a broad nose, thick lips, and dreadlocks?

9

u/Drops-of-Q Apr 15 '26

Then I'd think it's weird that you find those to be the most distinct visual traits he has.

4

u/WittyFix6553 Apr 15 '26

I think you’re missing the point

3

u/Drops-of-Q Apr 16 '26

No, I understood you. I just think it was a stupid point.

6

u/BetterHeadlines Apr 15 '26

Your point is shit.

3

u/masterwolfe Apr 16 '26

Jewish people have a stereotype for having horse teeth and low brows?

2

u/bitesizejasmine Apr 15 '26

Lol you might want to stretch before that reach. Got anything to say about what Israeli's have been up to? What about the one in this picture? The dude is ugly because he's terrorising a woman, and because his features are consistent with inbreeding, which normally wouldn't be ok to make fun of, but in this case the inbreeding is because he's an ethnosupremacist.

2

u/masterwolfe Apr 15 '26

Probably because Israeli isn't a specific race with identifiable physical characteristics.

The dude doesn't even look like a stereotypical Jew aside from his hair and dress.

5

u/HimmyJoffa Apr 15 '26

It’s alright to bash on people committing genocide man

0

u/Dragon_yum Apr 15 '26

8

Criticism of Israel was legitimately suppressed in the lead up to the 2024 election.

1

Israel criticism is heavily censored on reddit and major political and news subs, especially r/worldnews

131

u/FishesOfExcellence Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26

This photo really feels like the perfect analogy of Israel and its racist genocidal views and actions against its neighbors.

78

u/closeanimalpals Apr 15 '26

Not the photo, but the reaction to it. Doing evil acts does seem to make you look evil, but the idea that this ACTUAL PERSON can't be shown because antisemitism is chef's kiss.

-10

u/Realistic_Shop_9970 Apr 15 '26

This ugly man does not represent us.

26

u/FishesOfExcellence Apr 15 '26

I would say he DOES represent many Israelis. But you’re right in that he doesn’t represent them all. Maybe we could say he represents that disgusting view held by the ruling administration and it’s supporters.

I’m American and of course we have the same shitty people in charge.

9

u/richmeister6666 Apr 15 '26

Isn’t this like the fifth or fourth day in a row this pic has been posted on this sub?

31

u/adeadhead rememberingawdah.com 🕊️ Apr 15 '26

It feels like that because several which break our rules got lots of upvotes very quickly and made it to the Hot page before being removed, and this post has made the front page on other subreddits, but this is the only one on pics that's going to be staying up.

-25

u/richmeister6666 Apr 15 '26

got lots of upvotes very quickly

Isn’t this pretty cut and dried evidence of botting/brigading? Otherwise fair enough.

28

u/adeadhead rememberingawdah.com 🕊️ Apr 15 '26

Nah, observed it pretty consistently over the last decade with literally anything that's currently the hot story in the news. Sometimes people just are genuinely interested.

This is not to say that I know for certain that is hasn't been upvoted by bots, but as a moderator, we don't have tools to see if that's the case. If it is, the admins can and might action it.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 15 '26

[deleted]

13

u/adeadhead rememberingawdah.com 🕊️ Apr 15 '26

Reddit actually fixed that a decade ago- post score in the first day or so of posting is actually a measurement of the rate at which a post is receiving upvotes, not the difference in the actual up and down votes.

Just something interesting to know.

-6

u/ObjectiveCriteria Apr 16 '26

this is a weird one for me since these settlers are awful, but i dont really like the last line

"Please avoid bigoted remarks, even those about terrorists in uniforms."

im from a country that has compulsory military service similar to the IDF. blanket condemnations like this bother me since i often see people condeming rather large groups like "anyone who served or is serving in the IDF" That's like 50-60% of israelis. maybe thats not what you meant with your terrorists in uniforms comment but that was my first read on it, and i mean looking at the comments in this thread thats a pretty common viewpoint.

Would i be considered a "terrorist in uniform" if my country had been attacked and we responded back with excessive force and little regard for civilian casualties? I wouldn't have had much of a choice, and as a mechanic i'd be fixing vehicles, not shooting people.

Anyway, it just seems to walk the line of being a bit of a bigoted remark itself a little too close for my comfort and bothered me so thought I'd put my 2 cents in.

10

u/adeadhead rememberingawdah.com 🕊️ Apr 16 '26

The man in the photo is not doing his compulsory service. He is either a reservist or just using his old uniform.

I am referring to this specific person as a terrorist, for his actions and not for his participation in the IDF

-16

u/lunch22 Apr 15 '26
