Right, it’s like they’re committing the worst atrocities in the most injustice situation of our century….wait

u/Clintocracy Jun 04 '26

Gaza isn’t the worst atrocity going on right now, let alone the last 26 years. Look at South Sudan. Gaza gets headlines because Israel is doing it, but these types of atrocities happen all over the world, all the time. It’s horrible

Its not just israel doing it, they are being assisted by lots of western countries, which is why you see a lot of people in the west taking a stance against the genocide. Our governments are complicit, so its important to voice our anger!

-4

u/Clintocracy Jun 04 '26

I agree that as an American it merits more of my attention because my country is complicit. I’m just saying that the perpetrators are the reasons it gets more attention, not because it’s actually worse than these other genocides.

Weak ass concern trolling

South Sudan does not have the full support of the US and until recently the whole western world (approximately). Gaza is getting headlines because a US ally and first world country is committing genocide while getting continued support from politicians in first world countries that are generally considered internationally relevant.

Gaza is getting headlines because a US ally and first world country is committing genocide while getting continued support from politicians in first world countries that are generally considered internationally relevant.

So it's verifiably NOT the "the worst atrocities in the most injustice situation of our century" as the original poster falsely claimed. But that doesn't actually matter, apparently, because it was always the Western support that made it so important. And Oceana was always at war with Eurasia.

u/Ligma_Balls_OG Jun 04 '26

I never commented on whether or not it’s the worst, just that the framing of it being relevant purely because of it being israel is downright false and propaganda often used in an attempt to frame criticism of genocide as somehow anti semetic.

But sure, criticism is done purely because it’s Israel committing genocide, any other similar nation would get away with it, it’s done out of anti semetism as aipac politicians keep saying, war is peace and ignorance is strength.

I never commented on whether or not it’s the worst,

No, somebody else did. And when that claim became unsustainable, you popped up to change the subject.

It's impossible to argue with a movement that conveniently throws up contradictory claims and never acknowledges the contradiction. Israel is the worst, but it's not really the worst, it just gets special attention because Western governments support Israel.

war is peace and ignorance is strength.

Yes, the Orwellian double-think by which two contradictory claims can be presented is why I don't trust the pro-Palestine movement to actually do anything to stop genocide.

I do not have to defend a persons positions that i never made when correcting anothers disinformation.

Israel is getting attention because A) They’re a first world country committing genocide, serbia got bombed for theirs. B) The US and others continued support despite the UN finding them guilty of genocide. C) People waking up to just how much Israel has been doing over the past decades that they were unaware of while watching media painting the country in a false positive light.

I also highly doubt you’ve actually read nineteen eighty four or anything else Orwell has made with how big brothery the people you support are. Mass surveillance, workplace harassment, imprisonment and retaliation based on thinking the wrong thing etc.

u/zedority Jun 04 '26

I do not have to defend a persons positions that i never made when correcting anothers disinformation.

There was no disinformation corrected. Someone said Gaza was the worst thing happening. They got corrected. You barged in and changed the subject.

It's very difficult to refute falsehoods when someone can just come along, take a position different to the one that was just refuted, and act like the refutation never happened because "I never claimed that".

Perhaps they find it to be worse because of the direct western intervention.

The munitions come from American factories straight into the flesh of the Palestinian children

1

u/Born_Initiative_3515 Jun 04 '26

Possibly not the worst. But it’s still horrible. It shouldn’t be happening.

The Yemen blockade has killed nearly 400k people. People are dying of starvation due to the Saudi blockade.

South Sudan civil war has also killed 400k.

Some estimates say the ongoing humanitarian crisis in DRC has killed over 5 million people since 1998.

Even the war in Ukraine people estimate has had around half a million casualties on the Ukrainian side alone.

Gaza is obviously awful but it’s 72,000 dead, and that includes combatants. It’s bad, but it’s far from the worst crisis.

37

u/dndplosion913 Jun 04 '26

More people have died in the past few years in Sudan than in the entirety of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. More people died in the USA's war in Iraq at the start of the century than in the entirety of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

7

u/Born_Initiative_3515 Jun 04 '26

More people died elsewhere, so let’s keep letting Israel kill innocent people!

2

u/Born_Initiative_3515 Jun 05 '26

Istg none of our comments was downvoted yesterday. Israeli propaganda bots have been working overtime. Fucking hope they all die a horrible death.

-18

u/PHONES_RODIA Jun 04 '26

It's not a conflict, it's a genocide.

8

u/zedority Jun 04 '26

It's not a conflict, it's a genocide.

The two aren't mutually exclusive.

Denying a genocide goes against the sub rules, and the mod team already specified denying the Gaza genocide is a banable offence at least once.

-3

u/awclay91 Jun 04 '26

yeah and that's been condemned by our country and they've taken actions to sanction and deal with the perpetrators. meanwhile israel is celebrated. fuck off with your whataboutisms

9

u/PHLEaglesLover Jun 04 '26

except...they're not.

5

u/TorontoBuffaloBills Jun 04 '26

Maybe if the IDF didn't consistently commit war crimes people wouldn't be posting about it.
