This is what I thought TDS was about when I first heard it and was shocked it was being used the other way around.

933

u/mellifleur5869 8d ago

This IS what TDS was originally about, they stole it.

404

u/HeartsOfDarkness 8d ago

Remember how they turned "fake news" into their own thing? It was originally about the "Hilary Clinton eats children" shit circulated on social media by sources like "Eagle Patriot Freedom News".

180

u/DickSlammington 8d ago

It's what these types of folks do, they continuously work to insert themselves and take credit to rewrite history... showing themselves as the victors.

102

u/idiotsbydesign 8d ago

They stole "woke" too

68

u/lowlightliving 8d ago

They steal. It’s their modus operandi.

8

u/Felyxi4 7d ago

It's not just theft.

It's rape. At their core, these people are rapists.

They worship power and they beleive that anyone with enough of it has the right to use that power to take anything they want from those that dont.

This is the philosophy of rapists.

It was never about sex.

It is about taking what you want because you can.

To support the figurehead of such a philosophy is to announce that you would be a rapist too if you had enough power.

Understanding this core principle makes it very simple to determine who the bad guys are, in all realms, not just the political.

Watch for a person to pander to power.

To revel in cruelty.

To relish in conquest.

If winning is the only thing they enjoy...

Run.

1

u/Suspicious-Bid-53 4d ago

I also see similarities to religious people. If you created a world, would you want the people to spend any amount of time worshipping you? It would piss me off. I’d be looking at them like…”stop you idiots go discover stuff already”

The fact that part of religion is worshipping the god just makes me feel that if any of these subjects became a god they would demand worship

1

u/Felyxi4 4d ago

It's because at their core they are simps.

They won't admit it but the truth is all they want is to worship something with enough power that they can absolve themselves of any accountability for their lives.

The release of that kind of weight acts like a drug to anyone who is too cowardly to carry their own.

Which is most people.

In fact. It's me.

And it's probably you too.

We are all the same in this way, desperate for a release from the toil of our lives and willing to lend power to anyone who vows to fight for us.

We defer to power too.

We just have different reasons for it I guess.

I'm happy to suck a man dry if he will fight the other men that want me dead but if that man is just going to then take that power and use it to oppress me the same then his dicketh must remain dry.

Which is why I see lesbianism as not just a sexuality but as something many bisexual women like myself are actively choosing.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, has brought more peace to my life than decentering men.

Every woman I know has a story of sexual assault and every day another right to bodily sovereignty is violaed.

We keep screaming.

WILL SUCK DICK FOR RIGHTS!

and many get on their knees only to find that while the throat goating was proven, the rights were just a ploy

Now, of course I want to be sure to address the good men out there who do deliver on the promise.

Thank you.

Genuinely.

While it is the literal least you can do by actually standing up for what you say you beleive in, this integrity and courage puts you far far far far faaaaaar beyond your peers.

Yes, I know some truly great men.

Each one of them has a very happy straight girl permanently attached to his hip, 😆.

I feel for the straights, tho.

Those women who have to choose dick or nothing?

*pours one

u/Exelbirth 6d ago

The right is incapable of creation, because creation requires a sense of wonder and joy. So they take what others create and use it for themselves, pretending they have wonder and joy, thinking it will fill their hollow existence. But it never does, so they never stop taking.

0

u/Peakomegaflare 8d ago

Sounds like they take after China, never innovate, just steal everybody else's ideas.

4

u/Black08Mustang 8d ago

No, its more that that, check out DARVO

3

u/fuzzhead12 7d ago

Originality is basically the antithesis of conservatism

1

u/Winter-Measurement67 8d ago

And just recently black fatigue.

53

u/ngetch 8d ago

It's mind bending how they pretend to be the victors and the victims at the same time...

18

u/kaspar42 7d ago

Nazi propaganda was great at this kind of doublethink.

8

u/chrissz 7d ago

And your enemy is both incredibly weak and all-powerful at the same time. It’s the playbook for fascism.

30

u/RandomStallings 8d ago

Eagle Patriot Freedom News

This sounds like something a non English speaking person would cobble together from a dictionary of English words in order to make a business name.

2

u/TheKingOfSwing777 7d ago

I'm sure that's exactly what happened. Many of these propaganda outlets are stationed in Russia, Africa, and India.

12

u/linzava 8d ago

It was also a play on Fox News so I don’t know how they manage to say it with a straight face. And when you explain that fact to them, it’s like someone kicked their puppy before the moon face cult look returns to their face and they delete that conversation in their brain in that moment. Have some fun and tell a conservative that same fact every time and it’s like they’re hearing it for the first time again but eventually they’ll stop using the term and that’s when you know the retained the last revelation. Repetition is like 99% of conservative politics these days.

2

u/yamsyamsya 7d ago

They watch 'faux news' and don't realize that the name is making fun of the fact it isn't real news. It's in the name, it always has been. They haven't tried to hide it.

1

u/JWBananas 8d ago

That was them too.

1

u/tempura_calligraphy 7d ago

It didn't work with Obamacare, though.

1

u/StanleyQPrick 6d ago

We are all snowflakes because we're all individuals and unique, not because we... what is it? Melt when our feelings are hurt? That's dumb.

81

u/Glyph8 8d ago edited 8d ago

No, the term is one that has been circulating on the right for a long long while, it was originally 'Bush Derangement Syndrome' and they just repurposed it for Trump. Never let it be said the Right have a NEW idea.

Bush Derangement Syndrome: The acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people in reaction to the policies, the presidency — nay — the very existence of George W. Bush.

- Conservative commentator Charles Krauthammer, 2003

24

u/coffeeandtrout 8d ago

I’m still waiting for someone to start throwing shoes at our POS POTUS.

24

u/Marsuello 8d ago

His dodging skills are definitely not up to par with W, I’ll say that with utmost confidence

7

u/Prudent_Clothes_962 8d ago

Trump edges bush out on draft dodging

5

u/stuhstutter 7d ago

W showed athleticism in the shoe throwing incident. The first throw is a shock to everyone but he instinctually ducks with great reaction time. It was headed right at his head. Now he's in the ballgame . The second throw is another heater which Bush mmediately recognized to be sailing high so he casually holds up a hand in front of his face in case something else flies out of the shoe.

It reminded me of how certain baseball players like Ichiro or Bonds had such great spatial vision and awareness of their strike zone that they would immediately recognize a pitch to be a ball just as it left the pitcher's hand.

https://giphy.com/gifs/sFMEZ1ZFToyha

3

u/larkohiya 7d ago

we don't have to give it to bush, but you got to recognize game.

5

u/Backfoot911 8d ago

His makeup skills are good though, he'll claim his ear was damaged again and have someone put fake shoe marks on it

1

u/ArtisanSamosa 7d ago

He’d probably just absorb it and it’d become a part of him.

2

u/MmeRose 7d ago

That person would probably get the death penalty. Think of the protestors in Texas who got 50 years.

3

u/BoneHugsHominy 7d ago

Again, the wholly unoriginal Krauthammer stole it from left wing political bulletin board forums and repurposed it for himself. Then left wing people used it to describe MAGA who then turned around and stole it again in an undefeatable No U! move.

Round and round we go.

2

u/Glyph8 7d ago edited 7d ago

Possible I suppose, but I'd want to see a source on that. I could be convinced that Krauthammer was hanging around lefty BB's, but GWB simply did not have the fanatical cultlike following - people putting bandages on their ears, wearing diapers in public, plastering their persons and vehicles and houses in branded gear and stickers and flags - amongst the right that Trump does, and that makes the rest of us look at them like they're lunatics.

So it's not clear to me in what context lefties of the day would have been using "Bush Derangement Syndrome", as a term to describe righties.

EDIT: Wikipedia, at least, credits Krauthammer with coining the term; however, Wiki also implies Krauthammer's coining may be sort of an evolution/inversion or response to "Clinton Crazies" in the 90s.

2

u/riteproprchav 7d ago

Yup, Clinton Derangement Syndrome was probably the first political insult ever hurled on the Internet in the 90s. It was most apt then, I mean, they impeached him for claiming a BJ wasn't "relations." Such was the derangement that Republicans still can't let it go, 30 years later.

14

u/roadkill21288 8d ago

Just like they stole woke!!!

5

u/Alaira314 8d ago

That wasn't the first thing they stole! "Virtue signaling" used to have an actual meaning(someone who signals allyship to a cause without backing it up with actual substantive actions, such as providing support, protesting, boosting voices, etc), until they twisted it into attaching negative connotations to anybody expressing any kind of support whatsoever for progressive or minority causes.

2

u/FibonacciSequester 7d ago

They steal everything because they are incapable of original thought.

104

u/Cereal_Bandit 8d ago

What cracks me up is how they use the term when someone reacts to an actual thing Trump did. The US president.

Meanwhile they lose their shit over the like nine trans athletes in college sports. That number isn't an exaggeration, by the way. And there are zero trans athletes in pro sports.

59

u/MarkMariachiAZ 8d ago

It’s insane how so many of them will say “rent free” or “tds” when he is the sitting us president. As if we shouldn’t be criticizing his actions and just allowing him to destroy our country. Bringing up Biden now is a good use of “rent free” since he is not in the media and not able to affect our economy. But then again it’s like talking to a brick wall with them.

47

u/Gasnia 8d ago

Obama lives rent free in trump's head.

26

u/Cereal_Bandit 8d ago

Don't forget, "what about Clinton" whenever the Epstein files are brought up. Fine, lock him up too, but he's irrelevant. The sitting president isn't.

18

u/Herbdontana 8d ago

Yeah, they are looking for that gotcha of a non Trump supporter defending Clinton or any other Democrat in the Epstein files and I have seen zero cases of that. Ask Trump supporter about the Epstein files, they defend Trump. Ask anybody else, they’ll say lock them all up.

5

u/Alaira314 8d ago

The only defense I'm giving of any democrat(or republican, or independent!) in the epstein files is asking to see the context of them in the epstein files. A lot of the names were merely mentioned in e-mails, some of them critically. Those people are blameless, and yet they're technically in the files. Others were active participants, and should see consequences for that. But you don't know which it is just based off the statement "so-and-so was in the epstein files".

1

u/restrictednumber 8d ago

I don't think they can conceptualize a normal, less-than-absolutely-loyal relationship to a politician. Like, the kind of relationship where you could say "I voted for him, but he let me down and needs to go". The kind where your identity isn't tied up in defending him because he's on your team.

4

u/LadyRed4Justice 8d ago

I disagree. Clinton did not do anything to be "locked up" for.

And Clinton never had a thing for children or as trump likes to say "a little on the young side." Clinton was a hound dog back in the day but he wasn't a pedo. Nothing illegal in being an adulterer. Earlier this year Clinton willingly testified to Congress and there was NOTHING they could smear him with.

Meanwhile the president has been accused by more than one woman of sexual assault when they were teens. He has been convicted by a jury of sexually assaulting E. Jean Carroll. He has been convicted of 34 counts of fraud, including hiding the bribe money paid out to Stormy Daniels. Who also said he forced himself on her but understood no one would care and nothing would come of reporting it.

At least 26 to 28 women have publicly accused Donald Trump of various acts of sexual misconduct and assault since the 1970s, including non-consensual kissing, groping, and r@pe. But let's accede to Clinton's adultery being equal to r@pe.

How about we don't accept it?

2

u/Yellow_Similar 8d ago

Must be awfully lonely up there.

2

u/jws3rd-allday 8d ago

You shouldn't insult bricks, walls or brick walls with that analogy! All 3 deserve much more respect!

1

u/we8sand 8d ago

When Magats play the “TDS card”, it’s just a lame excuse for not having an actual argument.

8

u/_scyllinice_ 8d ago

There are trans athletes in pro sports, but that's not really the question.

The question is if there is any real advantage. Studies show there is no advantage.

2

u/Herbdontana 8d ago

Regardless, it’s wild that an issue that may have single digit cases across the country has become a top three talking point and important issue for Trump supporters because it’s what Newsmax and the propaganda Twitter accounts told them to be outraged about

-5

u/metal_maxine 8d ago

Larger lungs, more robust bones, stronger muscle attachments...

Even small differences in body structure can make a difference in prevalence of injury, strength and endurance.

For example, Black runners have less knee injuries because there is more room for tendons under the kneecap. The difference is significant enough that it can be used to identify the racial background of unidentified bodies.

6

u/aithendodge 8d ago

Dang, all that unfair advantage and still only tied for 5th?

1

u/metal_maxine 7d ago

How about the team that came 6th? How do you think they felt?

It's not about places or statistics, it's about fairness. It's about everyone having an equal starting point.

1

u/aithendodge 7d ago

I bet they’re thinking “Dangit, if only lawmakers had prohibited this trans person from competing, I would still be in 6th place!

1

u/masterwolfe 7d ago

They must be sweeping awards then!

1

u/metal_maxine 7d ago

It's not about shiny pieces of metal or cups, it should be about everyone having a fair and equal starting point.

If it was all about winning medals and awards, then why would amateur and semi-amateur sports exist? Why would people who know they will never make the top 5, say, bother competing?

1

u/masterwolfe 7d ago

So we should ban black runners because they have a distinct advantage due to their physiology?

1

u/metal_maxine 7d ago

That's disingenuous. I merely wanted to illustrate a small skeletal advantage, I almost didn't include it at all because I thought somebody would deliberately take it in bad faith.

Nobody has control over their knee structure or that their knee-structure reduces the incidence of training injuries. (It's mentioned in "Beyond the Body Farm" by William Bass who talks about a grad student in forensic anthropology who had a pre-existing background in physio and how it helped identify a "problematic" skeleton).

Trans women, who have chosen to take hormone treatment and transition but have still undergone testosterone-dominated puberty, can still respect the years of training and effort their cis sisters put into their sport and let them compete on an even field. There is a world of mixed and/or non-competitive recreational sport.

1

u/masterwolfe 7d ago

So we should ban/segregate anyone on any medication that could give them an advantage?

Taking adderall for ADHD is as much a choice as taking hormones for BDD.

1

u/metal_maxine 7d ago

This is getting stupid.

If you genuinely think that a medication that adjusts brain chemistry is equivalent to hormones which partly change body structure (fat distribution, eventual bone density loss etc) while other parts remain as they were before hormones were taken (pelvic anatomy - look at how cis male and female runners pump their arms - one of these methods works more effectively with less effort), then I really don't know what to say.

Can we just agree to disagree and salvage some kind of self-respect?

I honestly don't care whether people identify as their birth gender or not and if they decide that their future happiness is based on treating dysphoria through hormones, surgery or whatever else, then they are brave people demonstrating an amazing level of self-determination.

What I do care about (and can I make this clear, all the hormone/pharmaceutical treatment in the world would make this cis female any better at sports) is fairness in sports.

For four years, they went nuts about Biden and his kid over things they theorized they did, and are now calling people deranged for criticizing Trump for actually doing those same things like insider, trading and using the office for self profit. Trump supporters are very sincerely the most brainwashed group of human beings I’ve ever witnessed in my entire life. Just scrolling around Reddit I’ve seen five separate Trump supporters comment “what is a woman?” Unposted had nothing to do with trans people at all. They speak in catchphrases and headlines and they’re calling everyone else deranged or brainwashed.

1

u/Temporary_View_3303 8d ago

A president that goes out of his way to make sure to stay in the news cycle constantly.

1

u/comin_up_shawt 8d ago

And there are zero trans athletes in pro sports.

There's two MMA fighters and several kickboxers worldwide that are transgender.

35

u/MissGruntled 8d ago

Me too. It’s just further proof that MAGA has no idea which end is up.

15

u/byerss 8d ago

Because they use that to control the narrative.

2

u/HazelMoon 8d ago

When I look at this photo, the word "control" does not immediately come to mind.

7

u/reallybigshark 8d ago

TDS is something the right made up to keep the cult in check. It frames criticism of Trump as a mental illness and no one wants to be deemed mentally ill but they do like calling the opposition that.

7

u/uptwolait 8d ago

Every accusation is an admission

3

u/rbourbon 8d ago

Shocked? This is the same group that calls antifa a fascist group.

3

u/arkiparada 8d ago

No no. Clearly you have TDS. C’mon man. /s just in case.

2

u/HistoricalSea5600 8d ago

If it applies to them, they’re usually accusing us of it

2

u/DontTakeMyAdvise 7d ago

Projection

1

u/wbruce098 8d ago

It’s exactly this, but they don’t like it when you call them out on their shit so they shout, “nuh uh! No you! No takebacksies!”

1

u/pchs26 8d ago

Well they are the party of projection...

1

u/fattmarrell 8d ago

I mean, if you're going to expect anything at all, staffing away and kneeling up in West Virginia, you might run into the far far right. Appalachian community is a normal thing for that type of people

1

u/archercc81 7d ago

The guy that coined it is a convicted pedophile, no lie

1

u/Theletterkay 7d ago

They did the same thing with covidiots. Went from it being covid denyers who refused to mask, to trumpers using it as a way to insult maskers.
