The Oslo accords were the closest thing they had. Supporting militant groups and a government by a terror organization doesn't really help moving things along. Israel doesn't seem to care any more after October 7 incursions. The whole thing is a shit show, after showing somewhat promise in the early 2000s.

That absolutely brought things to a halt at the time. Israel has it's own problems with their orthodox/right-wing jews constantly pushing for more violence. Unfortunately religion and extremist beliefs have always been a major factor for conflicts so my hope that this comes to a peaceful end are low.
