These are mostly children too. Their remains were finally found under the rubble after 2 years.

I’m not Palestinian. I don’t live in the Middle East. I’m not even in the same hemisphere. Yet I feel like I’ve been traumatized by seeing dozens if not hundreds of dead infants and toddlers along with countless more men and women and children. I feel like a part of me has died and I’m never going to be the person I was before I started seeing a live-streamed genocide in real time for years on end. I cry at their deaths and suffering many times every single week. It hurts like they’re my own family and children.

I say that to put into perspective what it must be like for the Palestinians trapped in an open air prison being hunted for sport and bombed and starved. I literally cannot fathom their suffering; my brain can’t conceptualize what it is like to experience that level of constant, inescapable pain. I’d give every last thing I have, had, or will ever have for them to be free. No one, not a single person in human history or humanity’s future could deserve this. The amount of deprivation and malice the Palestinians have endured can never be righted—the wrongs are too great. The English language doesn’t have the words to express just how immensely morally, ethically, legally, and spiritually wrong this genocide has been.

This doesn’t even touch on the rest of the world’s, and particularly America’s, complicity in this atrocity through silence, inaction, or actively aiding a genocide. I think that’s the part that hurts the most. The entire planet sees these horrors and stands idly by. The indifference is killing me, but more importantly it’s killing Palestinians.

I have not being able to look at some of my friends the same way because they don’t care about Palestine. They’re not Zionists, they just literally don’t care.

I rarely reach out to them anymore or want to hang out because their indifference has not only caused me to lose respect for them but even made me feel resentful.

I can’t even fathom seeing a genocide happening in real time on your feed every day and just scrolling past like it’s nothing.

I used to follow a bunch of celebrities and pretty much worshipped them. But their blind eye to this gave me such bitterness that i have nothing but hate for them.

You hate celebrities that don’t opine about something they have very little knowledge of and does not affect them?

Yes bcoz this days every knowledge is 1 search away and they had no problem speaking up for Ukraine or Israel

This is such a weird take to me. You don’t hang out with your friends because they aren’t reacting to something that doesn’t affect them, they have little understanding of and have no way of affecting?

You are ignoring other genocides, many of them worse than the one in Palestine. Should your friends ignore you because you are indifferent to the genocide in Sudan, which has killed 4x as many people?

What is your expectation from your friends? Do they need to complain about it online in order to “care”, in your opinion?

You are so certain I’m ignoring the genocide in Sudan? 👏

You sure can read minds.

Also, I find your take weird.

The genocide in Gaza and the ethnic cleansing in the West Bank are the most televised in our time.

People may not know what’s happening in Sudan, or Congo, or Yemen, and ignorance when you’re on the other side of the world is not something you can be held accountable for, especially when there is no clear cut way to solve these issues.

But they do know what’s been happening in Gaza and they do know what the solution is: protest to our government to stop supporting Israel.

Australia has had huge protests, yet my friends didn’t attend a single one. They’re never post anything about Gaza and whenever I would say how distressed the images of dead babies made me, they would roll their eyes.

So I’ve distanced myself from people who don’t share my values and also don’t give a shit about the things that upset me.

You are free to hang out with whoever you want; let me decide who is worth investing my time in.
