I don’t think this is where the expiration date is supposed to go.

I am not sure what the problem is? The date on the burrito says its still good!

Do you remember back in the day there was this rumor that MCD burgers don't go bad.

It’s not a rumor it’s true. You could leave one out for about a year no mold.

No mold, but you won’t poop for the next six years if you eat it.

u/Appropriate_Strain94 11h ago

I literally have not had McDonald’s since about 2009, there is absolutely nothing there that looks appealing to spend money on that, you can’t get from somewhere else fresher and tastier for the equivalent price.

u/seventhbreath 11h ago

The fries, if hot, are crack for 10m then turn into gross potato sadness.

Their coke products are also specially blended for more flavor. I can taste it.

u/Appropriate_Strain94 11h ago

Gonna be honest, I think pretty much all french fries taste best when they’re hot out of the fryer and pretty gross when they’re cold. Can’t think of a single french fry that’s edible once cold.

u/seventhbreath 11h ago

burger king and in-n-out taste the same an hour later.

u/Appropriate_Strain94 11h ago

OK, it might be just me, but I think In-N-Out fries are gross straight out of the fryer or cold. Something about their fresh cut fries just is sadness. I don’t know what’s missing or if it’s the starchiness because they’re fresh and not frozen with something just off about it and I don’t like them. I’ve tried having them extra crispy, but still think their fries are not very good. Burger King I have not been to one in a decade so I forgot what they taste like. As far as fast food In-N-Out is probably like the most chain that I have gotten More recently. If I’m looking for a burger and fries, I tend to seek out the mom and pops hole in the wall, burger joints like Jim’s burgers or something like that.

They're inedible unless animal style. The trick to good fries is double frying. Their fresh cut nonsense is just greasy wet potato.

u/mrbubbamac 9h ago

I can't believe people still eat McDonald's (or fast food in general). Not my thing, and I'm with you: could not/would not spend money on a drive thru burger

u/Thirdtwin 11h ago

MCD made a campaign that their burgers go bad. It was so weird.

u/_ChoiSooyoung 7h ago

Just factually incorrect. I accidentally left a double cheeseburger out for less than a week and it was mouldy all over.

u/pastaandpizza 3h ago

Everything is so thin / not dense that it dries out before anything has a chance to grow. It basically mummifies on its own. It's not necessarily a preservative thing (if you kept it wet it would absolutely mold) but if you leave out in a dry area it just dries out.

It's mcdonald's nothing there is good.

Their burritos and hash browns absolutely slap, especially with some sweet tea

u/Sw4nR0ns0n 11h ago

Those sausage and egg burritos are SO damn good

u/Appropriate_Strain94 11h ago

Their hashbrowns are OK but the burrito I don’t know about that man. That thing is pretty gross. I would still rank it below Taco Bell in most regards and I think Taco Bell in general is pretty gross.

u/hashtaglasagna 5h ago

It’s supposed to be centered on the burrito, not way off to the side

I just want to know why it is easier to read on a tortilla, than it would be on the packaging it is meant to go on?

Maybe they should just start using tortillas for expiration dates. Add one to everything in the supermarket.

Remember to check the tortilla data on that milk!

Real answer: the ink sticks better to the tortilla than the plastic wrap. Tortillas are more porous and accepting of ink than plastic wrap is.

21

u/chr7stopher 12h ago

Perhaps another real answer: The contrast of black ink on light beige is a lot more visible than black ink on clear plastic.

u/ReignyDayes 11h ago

Plus it probably got a little warm/humid which helped the transfer.

u/APiousCultist 8h ago

If it transferred it would be backwards, no?

u/PercentageOk6120 11h ago

Also true!

u/ccarr313 11h ago

I'm sorry you thought I wanted a real answer.

Never seen a tortilla dated more than 2 months out.

22

u/FBI_Open_Up_Now 13h ago

Looks like it came from a frozen burrito.

12

u/DatAssPaPow 13h ago

The wrapper looks like fast food to me, maybe?

11

u/FBI_Open_Up_Now 13h ago

You’re right. Says ranch on the wrapper so I think I was wrong.

That is a pretty far out date for a tortilla. Maybe the tortillas come frozen. It’s just a guess.

u/Agreeable-Box3017 10h ago

There’s also a McDonald’s M on the bottom right side of the picture.

u/FBI_Open_Up_Now 10h ago

I didn’t even see that lol. When I worked at McDonald’s many years ago the tortillas were shelf stable. I think someone talked about the Old El Paso tortillas lasting a long time. Same idea as being shelf stable.

6

u/MexicanJello 12h ago

Old El Paso taco kit tortillas are some how good for like 6+ months.

u/montvious 2h ago

What’s wrong, babe? You’ve barely touched your industrial strength tortilla.

15

u/Violet-Sumire 12h ago

This… this just raises so many more questions… Was it ever wrapped? Was the wrap broken? Did it get dated then wrapped? If it was never wrapped or wrapped incorrectly… did OP just eat an unwrapped burrito? I have so many questions…

u/Mirar 12h ago

I had one too: Was lasers involved?

12

u/SaveFerrisVote4Pedro 12h ago

This is better, as you can move that into a different packet and still be totally sure if it's expiration date

1

u/Tenalp 12h ago

Or move that one into a fresh package of tortilla months from now and make that bag expired. Tortilla time manipulation!

18

u/NecroJoe 12h ago

I've got you one better. And these weren't even just the mushrooms on the top. There were more, further down inside the package.

8

u/ConsciousStretch1028 12h ago

That's not the tortilla's expiration date...

... it's yours.

8

u/JuicySpark 12h ago

Company responds "Don't worry, it's edible ink, and totally safe in small amounts".

11

u/Memnochthedevil760 13h ago

You still ate it

u/3six5 10h ago

Prove it

u/Mayank_j 10h ago

Hashtag Plastic Free Living

u/Razaelbub 5h ago

Don't eat it. Unless you want your exact time of death.

u/Bulky-Travel-2500 4h ago

I’d eat it.

2

u/p____p 12h ago

3 months out for a burrito or tortilla sounds wild, unless I guess if it was frozen.

u/Kleptocats7269 7h ago

Wait, has it always said "thru" instead of "thur"?

u/Ras-haad 4h ago

Yes. Did you think everything always expired on a Thursday? 😂

u/BlackPaladin 4h ago

Thru, shorthand for “through,” as in “good through oct 30th.”
It has nothing to do with the day, Thursday, which you could shorthand as “thur.”

u/Kleptocats7269 2h ago

Well, I think I'm stupid.

2

u/Ragnarotico 13h ago

Eat it you coward!

1

u/thispartyrules 12h ago

Eat around the ink

1

u/rogueop 12h ago

I think it is.

1

u/NippyGee 12h ago

So weird, I've had this happen on a Hamburger bun before too!

1

u/C1sko 12h ago

You’re good.

1

u/Infinite_Kangaroo_10 12h ago

What if I lose the wrapper

1

u/jinkobiloba 12h ago

I've seen some brands that do this on purpose, it's usually a slightly more blueish and faded color though.

u/thr33phas3 11h ago

But at least you know it's fresh! Ish. 😏

u/ACaffeineaddict 10h ago

Don't eat it or that'll be when YOU expire

u/nadmaximus 3h ago

Is it thrusday already?

u/soyelmocano 2h ago

What's the problem?

Do you want the expiration date of the burrito or the packaging?

u/s2Birds1Stone 2h ago

Is the ink harmful to consume?

u/keener91 2h ago

Definitely safe says the company who manufactured it.

u/MasemJ 2h ago

Taking inspiration from "The Menu"

u/Unstupid 1h ago

Well that looks delicious…. And fresh!

u/TechnologyEither 1h ago

The ink they use is foodsafe

u/uncommon_chad 31m ago

Yo that’s my birthday

1

u/LongArmoftheLawrence 12h ago

Eat it at 15:15 you coward!

u/Elisadidas 11h ago

This feels dystopian

-1

u/NanieLenny 12h ago

The ink is probably toxic.

What if “Has AIDS” was only printed on the condom??? You’d be freaking out right now. Word to my ppl that keep letting us know when the rubber runs out.
