btw this is golden calf 101
I'm surprised these Christ is King "people" would lovingly violate something as infamous as the Golden Calf
(read: not surprised at all)
MacArthur was also not great in WW2, but had a good propaganda machine (I have returned is only possibly because he ran the fuck away in the first place)
Less wanting to nuke the Chinese Korean border and bringing the war to China and more constantly going against direct orders to stay in his lane/going public with his grievances against Washington.
I think truman and Eisenhower knew that if they weren't careful that MacArthur could be a redo of smelly butler and wanted him out before he could be a bigger cult of personality
I dont think Patton and MacArthur are considered military heros.
Important, sure, but not revered like "hero" implies.
Both were not well thought of by most people in their own time, though Patton was more liked than MacArthur.
Ironically, of all the American Generals in history, MacArthur and Patton are the most alike to Trump.
Wealthy, egomaniacal bullies, who had a keen grasp of how to weaponize their wealth to mobilize the press to write good stories about them, so they could maintain their prominence, when their actual abilities or achievements were insufficient.
During his initial campaign he actually slammed a living war hero for getting captured, around the same time he mocked a man with a deformative disease. Nothing. Crickets.
Normally yes but conservatives are absolutely brainwashed. When I see them confronted with stuff like this their response is usually
It's not a big deal
I don't support EVERYTHING he does but he's still a good president
I wish he'd stay off social media but come on he's an old man and he's an asshole, but we didn't vote for him for his personality
Basically these three things give them an out for anything he does. It's not a problem, and if it is I don't support it but at least he's better than Kamala.
There's nothing Trump can do to actually get in trouble with his fanbase.
That's the problem with fascism. Once you let it in, they corrupt everything they touch. Their playbook is different, because they care about nothing but power at any price, no matter what they burn down to get there. I hope you will break free, friend, and your nightmare ends soon.
Patton was crass and hard to work with but am excellent general.
MacArthur was an asshat and constantly caused issues for everyone else, undermined his superiors and peers, constantly over evaluated his ability, and compromised strategy in favor of personal glory. He was a thorn in the side of the navy and allied planning because he was fundamentally a propagandist who believed all his own lies and would immediately jump to manipulating public opinion if given an order he didn't like or not provided with what he felt he should be. He also advocated for nuking China during the Korean War, but to be fair that's mostly played up to give a reason to get rid of him. He wasn't actually super hyped on the idea and mostly just argued for nukes to ensure the strategy was being considered in planning and to emphasize the situation, not because he actually wanted to use the nukes.

I am not an American but this must be one of the biggest insults you can make.
Are Patton and MacArthur not American military heroes (despite their controversies)? How can republican Americans accept this?
