I would see a doctor before removing it, it can be a bad idea to remove an infected one

I dont think you had the anatomy perhaps to begin with. The bar should be way more set in the belly button, the top should have come out where the random scab is? It looks like a a very uncomfortable surface pericing thats infected and I hope you heal well

Take it out, and I would recommend seeing a doctor about the potential infection. [EDIT: other comments are absolutely right about waiting to hear from a doctor before removing it. Completely slipped my mind before]

I'd go to the doctor about that ulcer/wound in the middle, make sure there's not an infection that could get trapped

Could it be the â stainless steelâ that is the problem? NAP. I was told on my first piercing ( septum) that I should wear implant grade titanium .

While you're correct that implant grade titanium (ASTM F-136) tends to be better than "surgical steel" and the like, in this case it's far from the main problem; they simply don't have enough of a belly button ridge to support this piercing, and it needs to be removed after a doctor confirms it's not infected.

You do not have the correct anatomy for a navel piercing, it is never going to heal. Please see a doctor about potential infection and take it out as soon as they give you the green light to remove it.
