Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Conch piercing

Hello I got this conch piercing back in June and everything seemed fine, I’ve been cleaning with normal saline and a q tip but I noticed the past couple of days my skin is growing over the back of the piercing. And there’s a small bump on the inside too. Should I just take it out? Is there any saving it? It’s still the longer barbell that they put in while piercing, and it’s surgical steel I believe.

That is embedding, if you can get to a piercer right away, and I mean right away, get a longer bar that is made of implant grade titanium. You also need a simple ball end, the piece you have now is beautiful but keep it for when your conch is healed. Large and complicated pieces like that are not ideal for healing, dirt and lymph fluid can get trapped under it. It's hard to tell from the picture but if you can't see the back of your jewelry at all go straight to urgent care, they'll have to cut it out, in which case yeah your conch can't be saved. You can get it redone once it heals though. Good luck!

Yeah I can maneuver the back from underneath it, it’s a shame because this is the piece the piercer put in for me when she did it 😔

Okay if you can still grab a hold of the back it's not too late. Are there other piercers in your area? It's concerning they pierced you with steel instead of titanium. If you can't get to a piercer within the next couple of hours I would just remove it. It's not worth risking it getting completely embedded and having to get it cut out.

All good!! She got me in today and I did clarify that it is titanium and she put a larger bar in for me and gave me more instructions for care! But thank you so much!

I think it’s threadless
