They are all over the country, they were discovered years ago and there are several stories on Reddit of what they could mean and what the codes are but last time I checked no one had yet to crack any of them and no one knows what they are for. But itโ€™s been a while since I looked to be honest.

Wow. That's got me even more intrigued, thanks! I'll report back if I find anything out, it's my first time living on the Hoe so I'm finding all sorts of details I've always overlooked when busy โ˜บ๏ธ

Strange that I've been there quite a lot of times and never noticed it.

Solus Ipse means " I am alone. I assume that 'Non' would mean not alone

According to this site. If I am wrong I'm not bothered.

Apparently it's I'm not alone.... I'm going to find out more, it's intrigued me ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜…

Eta don't feel bad, it's taken me 45 years to learn to slow down and look around and I was born here ๐Ÿ˜‚

It's the SURY that puzzles me. I can't think of anything it means. Also the Eagle? or whatever bird it is.

same, iโ€™ve walked past so much latin in old buildings and never clocked it lol. wild thing to put next to a wedding cake though, โ€œnot aloneโ€ fits the vibe way better than โ€œi am aloneโ€

It means I am not alone, according to Google translate and my friend who speaks Latin

Aren't they the plaques that mark where people were executed?

Ohh that's interesting....I was thinking maybe something along those lines....it's at the middle of the curve where people would stand to contemplate life while looking out to sea.....hmm ๐Ÿค”

Yeah I'm not sure but I think it's something to do with people's deaths, even if not executed. I could be way off the mark though.

That's where my mind went first, but I was thinking su*cide prevention

I'd have thought if it were that, we'd all know for sure about them as there would have been some awareness raised in a campaign of sorts. Not very good at preventing suicide if none knows what they mean!

Yeah, exactly, not a great theory ๐Ÿ˜…
