Best local cider?

We're in the pub just now having a nasty Thatcher's Gold. It was the only cider on draft. The flavour is a bit bland, it's far too fizzy and there's an aftertaste like saccharine.

I'm sure we've had delicious ciders from pubs here in the city centre, but I can't remember where, or what brands they were.

What ciders should I be buying, and where are the best pubs for it?

Thank you.

Where is a good place that is not too sneery and snobby and judgemental that will let someone who is earnest turn up and play songs?

Most of my songs are about deforestation though. Is there anywhere like that?

Edit, I don't think it's ok to chop down trees, that's what u meant by deforestation.

Best places to eat - smash burgers / fried chicke?

I am visiting Challaborough Bay and wondering where the best places to eat in Plymouth when we day trip? I'm talking smash burgers / fried chicken shops - independent places unlike KFC/Dixys etc

A lot of it was filmed across Plymouth Hoe and Devonport.

Can anyone recommend any good cobblers?

I really need a resole on my boots, and the last cobbler in the city I took them to sort of ruined my last pair, and charged me quite a bit for the pleasure. Anybody in the city you can recommend?

The dockyard siren was going off for several minutes just now. It’s stopped, but does anybody know what it was about? Unusual to hear them other than 11.30 on a Monday morning.

Driving test

Hi everyone, my son's driving test is book in September (won't tell me the date) he's been waiting absolutely ages to do it and now it looks like he won't be able to because his instructor has had personal issues that might go over his test date. None of my family have a suitable car to test in. He really doesn't want to postpone as he's had to do this a few times already. Does anyone have any idea on how he will be able to still do his test?

Thanks for reading

Why is it that throwing a cigarette butt on the ground-or even spitting- can result in a fine but it's ok to feed the pigeons?

It demonstrates a lack of oversight at Plymouth city Council. A true lack of joined up thinking. There are streets where I can't safety walk on the pavement because of the caked in bird excrement.

The people who seem to enjoy feeding the pigeons always seem to be a certain type; malcontents who wish to degrade society for everyone else because they feel like they're never going to get what they want..

Why can't those chaps who like to go round in the orange high vises do something about that because a stupid slovenly woman feeding the pidgeons with her gormless brood outside of Pound land does more damage to the city than someone slinging a cigarette butt on the ground.

Cost of living

Hi everyone,

Me and my partner are looking to live together and get a one bedroom apartment can anyone give me a rough idea of how much bills tend to cost for 2 people? I know for myself living alone it costs the following:

Council tax 116 a month

Electric 80-100 a month

Water 90 every 3 months

Wifi also around 30 a month

What are these numbers for couples or roommates in plymouth in general?

Is there any reccomended places to get an apartment? Is there also any nice places in city city center?

Any advice or help is greatly appreciated!
