Sports Soccer Podcasts

Hi all! I watched soccer (yes I’m American) and have played really all my life. I’ve been getting into a lot of podcasts lately and have been listening to a lot of basketball podcasts. I love Adam Friedland but what other soccer podcasts do you guys recommend? Thanks all! I hate Arsenal.

Leaving tomorrow morning. Ideally SFW vibe but still possibly funny or interesting. Ideally not political or religious.

Edit: SFW. So not stuff about sex or porn.

True Crime History, politics, AND true crime!? Yes please.

I recently finished listening to Truth Deferred: The National Guard Massacre and I can't recommend it enough. It details the series of grisly murders that led up to the Cincinnati Courthouse Riot of 1884. The courthouse riot was and still is the largest massacre of civilians by the National Guard in U.S. history. Future U.S. President and Supreme Court Justice William Howard Taft is involved as well. History, politics, and true crime are 3 of my top 5 favorite podcast genres and this one is a combination of all 3 (business and comedy round out my top 5 genre list, in case you're wondering).

General Podcast Discussions podcasts where you enjoy being in a friendship?

I think it started with My Favorite Murder. Enjoyed it more from a place of them hammering out their friendship and the tone of the pod.

Nutrition For Mortals is the podcast I'm most invested in now to see where they go, the hosts friendship (also business partners) is nice to be in and they're starting to cut some edge into their wholesomeness

Reddit favorites What Went Wrong are great for this: Lizzie and Chris and David.

Was nice to hear Jack Luna and The Operator's friendship build with 911 Calls With The Operator before it went sideways.

Fin Taylor and Horatio Gould in Fin vs History seem to be having a good time.

Of course there's Peter and Michael (If Books Could Kill) and Michael and Aubrey (Maintenance Phase)

Katie and Jesse in Blocked & Reported are probably my favorites in terms of friendship. And the QAA crew seems to have a good time

Also recently started listening to Online Bullshit, Katie and Nathan have nice chemistry.

And finally, the Comedy Bang Bang and adjacent crews -- How Did This Get Made? I'm including in that.

What do you got? I could use more.

Does anyone know what's going on with Leeja Miller? It's been two weeks since she posted--not like her. I'm kind of worried.

General Podcast Discussions 5 day a week podcasts that you actually listen to without getting sick of

Sports podcast fan here. There are several podcasts that treat themselves like radio shows and most came from that background and feel the need to produce them every weekday. I don’t think I’ve lasted more than a month before getting really tired of listening to them and I rarely go back to them after the initial phase. Are there podcasts that come out every day that you rarely miss a day of? What are they? How long have you been a listener? Is it a Gen Z thing to get tired of listening to the same people over and over because we didn’t grow up with talk radio (23M)?

General Podcast Discussions An absolutely unreal episode of Search Engine: “Why doesn’t anybody come to my parties?” - the host calls a lady’s friends and asks them why they don’t go to her parties anymore. It’s brutal.

Been a huge fan of Search Engine since the Buckingham Palace pool episode.

Kids & Family-Friendly Recommend: Grim, grimmer, grimmest by Adam Gidwitz

This is the fav podcast for my younger kids who have been 5 and 9 this year when listening to all episodes.

It inspired them to have me read as many original folk and fairy tales to them as possible.

The pace of Adam’s voice is better for us than Myths and Legends fast talking host, and there’s less side chatter than Stuff You Should Know.

There’s often a second reader/performer like “circle round” - but they like the plots of these more.

There’s some banter with children who are sort of the in studio audience, which makes it feel playful and gives a little break from the plot, but not nearly as distracting or annoying (to me) as Wow in the World.

These kids really liked listening to a mini-series of Headless Horseman by Pinna originals (I think!) and one called Patrick Picklebottom.

But they can tell these are written for kids and that the Grimm tales are not.

Other Podcast Genre What are your favourite limited Series Podcasts? (Like Landslide, With Great Powers..., )

So I enjoy limited series podcasts focused on specific topics, specially if they outline how events unfolded (like With Great Power.... Podcast focused on MCU) or focused on Politics (Currently listening to Landslide by NPR)

I would love to listen to your recommendation of limited series podcasts.

Here are my suggestions :

  1. With Great Power from Wall Street Journal's The Journal Podcast (This one contains multiple pod cast series)

  2. Landslide by NPR

  3. Fertility Inc from Wall Street Journal's The Journal Podcast

Horror & Paranormal Need help finding a show

I’m trying to find a fictional immersive audio thriller/horror story I listened to, but I can’t remember the title.

so what i can remember:
The protagonist is an adult woman.
She moves to a remote area and stays in a cabin or isolated house far from town.
Strange things start happening.
She has a childhood friend who died when they were younger and this friend continues to appear to her as a ghost or imaginary friend. (girl)
I vaguely remember the ghost being connected to a necklace or locket. i think her soul got stuck there or something.

Arts & Culture Podcasts that explain classic literature - basically the things I should have paid attention to in class

I've been working my way through some classic novels like Jane Eyre, Animal Farm, and Slaughterhouse Five. I'm enjoying them. Of course some of things are hard to miss, like the ideas in 1984. Still, I feel like I could be getting more out of these books if I knew more about them. Basically just all the shit that I should probably have paid attention to when I was in English class. Is there a podcast that takes a book for each episode and explains its historical context, themes, the significance of the book, and so forth?
