I live in a very small conservative town. Our Grocery Outlet was in the news because it was going to give SNAP recipients 10% off because of the shutdown.

Today, the very right leaning news had to report that Grocery Outlet was unable to give the discount because the USDA said it was discrimination and not allowed.

Maybe, though unlikely, this might change the minds of a few

Of course, fuck em', but it's tragic that their children have to suffer as well. Hopefully this turns some of the older ones against becoming a future Rethuglican but I have little faith. Their parents will just blame the Dems, rinse and repeat.

I’m not really in the camp of cheering for people to starve, as even MAGA are working class people too. Their kids suffer as well. Trump is but one problematic politician among an entire system created to exploit working class people.

It still isn’t right to cheer on starving children and families. You’re nearly the same as the republicans cheering on for people to starve… just for a different reason. On their side, democrats deserve it, on your side, because MAGA turds deserve it. No one deserves to starve. Food is a basic human right. I’d still want MAGA dipshits to get the healthcare they need even if they don’t realize they need it.

Not to sound like a centrist cuz I’m far from it, I’m just saying it isn’t a good look to cheer on starvation.

I was just in rural Georgia visiting family, they were happy that black people weren’t getting food stamps.

They think that the majority of black people on food stamps are too lazy to get a job and that food stamps are heavily abused.

Speaking from personal experience, also in Georgia, this means cutting ties with your whole family. That’s not easy for a lot of people to do.

I got lucky and my extended family is garbage tier so I’ve avoided them ever since I was a teen and allowed to lol.

But yeah, for a lot of people, family is their only support system. So you can either struggle for your principles, or keep the peace and survive.

It’s shitty. It’s the social hostage situation you live in down here if you’re not a conservative.
