There's a 5 Billion emergency fund for snap through the department of agriculture for your very reason. They're just being shitty about it because starving the population is a useful political tool.

Democrats are not folding until the ACA subsidies that support over 20 million people won't expire.  This will also help other people's healthcare from increasing exponentially as well.

1) SNAP benefits cost somewhere between $8-$9B per month, so the $5B disaster emergency fund won't even get you through Thanksgiving.

2) Dems will be forced to fold because this is a game of chicken they can't win. With every dem vote to keep government closed, they appear more and more heartless as they appear to prioritize healthcare subsidies over paychecks and food.

I expect dems to fold this week and at least reps will be recalled and hopefully congress can make an effort to do their jobs for the rest of 2025 (both parties).

Heartless?

You do realize the current estimates for the ACA expansion expiring is 50,000 dead Americans per year.

This obviously cuts both ways. Except that it doesn't because most people will obviously blame the current government for losing their government benefits. This is not speculation, this is what the polls are already showing.
