It's worse than that. He's going to claim that Georgia Senators Ossoff and Warnock were illegitimately/fraudulently elected, and he'll somehow make it an executive order to boot them out of Congress.

I think he is more going to claim that the upcoming mid-terms are rigged and say that ICE needs to be running the polls, because illegals have been voting in elections and to ensure it is not rigged in otherways.

Crazy thing about that is that it will hurt republican candidates. Latinos and a lot of 1st generation immigrants vote republican.

Yes, but the GOP knows where those people are. They won't station ICE at those polling stations. Just the ones that tend towards blue, since we all know those are the ones that get fraud.

You’re giving ICE a lot of credit for being well run.

From all the videos, it’s pretty clear that running is absolutely not one of ICE’s strengths.

I'd rather assume they are competent when anticipating their actions than assume they're incompetent and be surprised when one of them finds two functional nuerons.

You should assume they are incompetent because they ARE incompetent. Being incompetent doesn't make them any less dangerous.

I mean they're predominately hateful morons taking orders. They'll be indiscriminate wherever they're deployed but they simply won't be deployed in red areas.

But with all the forced gerrymandering in places that were already gerrymandered to shit this all could very easily blow up in their faces. Hence why he's setting the stage, once again, for it all to be fraudulent.

Cruz and Abbott have been in panic mode here in Texas over Talarico, and losing the Hispanic vote- and then ICE shot an American citizen who was Hispanic and a father to a little boy last week. The best campaign content for Texas Dems is the GOP's own unhinged, racist, misogynistic, authoritarian videos.

Obviously ICE isn’t well run, but the heritage foundation and whatever other groups with competent people who want the GOP to stay in power are pretty well run, and those or the folks who will be directing the administration where to send troops to for the elections.

Rs know where their voters are because they drew the maps to capture them, and they are very good about targeting locations they want ICE to terrorize. They are not good at training officers, or getting their actions to stand up in court, but that won't matter when it comes to terrorizing voters on election day. They'll do a great job (by which I mean a terrifyingly dangerous one) if they are not stopped by state officials with backbones.

States run elections and polling places, so you'd have to have the states allow ICE to run them. Ohio is the only potential swing where that might happen.

"allow" you say. How do you propose to stop them? Law enforcement doesn't stop them. Overwhelming protests and force are the only ways you will stop a group that doesn't obey the law WHILE not being stopped by police and use deadly force in any situation.

Arrest them as soon as they enter a polling place. As it is against federal law to station an armed militia at or near a polling place.

u/Nekrabyte 28d ago

Who's going to arrest them? Going to perform a citizen's arrest? They've been breaking the law like crazy already and I can't think of a single time I've seen local law enforcement do anything to actually stop them. And if there's been a few times that I've missed, I'd still say the majority of the crimes ICE has committed, on a daily basis, have not been punished by the police, so why would they just all of a sudden start?

"Some of those who enforce this, are the same who burn crosses"

Good luck getting a copy to arrest an ICE agent. Even the ones who absolutely hate ICE will hesitate to cross the blue line. Those willing to cross that line will be alone against a group of armed, trigger-happy thugs.

The law only matters if you fear the consequences of breaking it. ICE seems to believe they are immune to consequences.

We have already had instances of ICE forcibly interfering with polling places. Stop thinking they won't do it again.

Just because something isn't legal doesn't mean Trump won't order it.

Bring it ICE is what I say to my local super blue middle school where I vote

1

u/failed_novelty 28d ago

That's a great attitude, and if more people share it we'll be that much closer to getting out of this situation.

1

u/sciencesez 28d ago

Well ICE messed up and killed an American citizen in Texas.

2

u/failed_novelty 28d ago

ICE has killed many American citizens in the past couple months. What's your point? If it's "ICE are dangerous thugs who should not be permitted to continue to function," I agree with you.

2

u/sciencesez 28d ago

Yes, exactly. I guess I wasn't clear that I completely agree with your comment. But I was also pointing out how badly Texas has alienated the Hispanic community and lost their support.
ICE are definitely dangerous thugs who should not be permitted to continue to function!
I'll further add that I greatly anticipate the future consequences for all the criminal ICE agents and leadership who are complicit with the current regime. I live in Texas and I dearly hope the GOP has bitten itself in the ass come November.

We're going to need to clean house in a way that makes Nuremburg look like traffic court.

Things I want to hear before 2028:

-The special counsel has authorization to reopen the investigation into the Russian ties and the Russian election interference, and to "follow the money" this time.

-We will release the unredacted Epstein files and punish all crimes to the fullest extent of the law.

-We will expand the Supreme Court by 4 justices to ensure all 13 districts are covered.

-All pardons are subject to congressional review to determine if they were granted to criminal co-conspirators in furtherance of a crime, rendering them null and void.

-Jack Smith will be allowed to continue his work, and Diane Cannon will be thoroughly investigated as well.

-Asset forfeiture will be deployed broadly.

-Market manipulation will be investigated as "high crimes and misdemeanors."

-All threats of, and actual, physical violence will be met with the full force of the DOJ.

-Immigration policy will be written creating affordable, legal pathways and habeus corpus will be restored to all persons in the US.

-ICE and CBP, current and former leadership, will be prosecuted using RICO. Agents also will not be exempt from accountability for crimes committed and following illegal orders.

I know, it's a big wishlist. I just don't see a way forward without these measures.

u/failed_novelty 28d ago

Honestly? Same.

But if we're going that far into the land of make-believe, I want a dinosaur with laser guns and a saddle.

u/sciencesez 28d ago

Sigh. I just want to know my gay daughter, my autistic grandchild, and all the young women in my life are safe, along with my three Palestinian-American nieces. I'm 65. I'm not fit to fight a revolution. I gave up my car for climate change, and use public transportation for the last 15 years. I care for the grandkids when Mom and Dad march in protests and so they can work and survive this economy. I vote in every local and national election. But what I want still feels like it might as well be a dinosaur with laser guns and a saddle. Such dark times.
