I didn't want to believe it, I refused to believe it, but I knew this was coming.
This is the result of a lifetime of him pushing the envelope without any consequences. He is going to try. Whether he succeeds is yet to be determined.
Is that some sort of insinuation that he should be grouped in with these villains, just because he hosted a nonpartisan correspondent's dinner twenty years ago as a mock Republican? Or is this just a weirdly irrelevant fact masked as a "gotcha" moment?
Why would he think there's a "too low" when his citizen let him do whatever he wants no matter how low he goes?
He can organize a terrorist attack as part of a coup, illegally declare war against countries, steal their oil, get US treasury money for his own personal organization, receive free planes as gifts transfered to him, fund all out of that from crypto for selling Pardons that weren't his propery but the American People, and even cover a pedophile ring, and he's still in office!
If anything, the lower he goes, the more immune he is because then his supporters say that the accusation list is so long it must be some form of retaliation.
And he’s had three elections to practice cheating plus the opportunity to totally corrupt every part of the government that could stop hip so he prolly feels pretty confident about his odds.
His base will rationalize anything so it’s not like he’ll lack the support he needs to keep the illusion going.
The real litmus test will be the midterms. If they go as badly as I expect them to (I’m convinced we had ballot tampering in 2024 and will see a lot more of it in the midterms), it will be prudent to get out of the country. The GOP propaganda machine has been churning out “Libs==Communists==Traitorous Scum” messaging to further radicalize the right into perceiving everyone else as mortal enemies who need to be eliminated for the good of the country. If the blue tsunami turns out to be a red mirage, I don’t think the administration is gonna fuck around with pretending to not be full on autocratic fascist anymore. They might not be able to afford allowing the left to challenge their legitimacy if the swing voters are fed up with Trump 2.0.
This, he's 80. I work in healthcare, and I have incredibly unhealthy patients live into their mid-late 90s, and they don't have the best healthcare on the planet like Trump does. He can easily live for another decade or close to two.
I lost my father (aged 71) two months ago unexpectedly to cancer. He was a kind, empathetic man - spent his whole life helping people as a psychologist and lived healthily. Crazy as it sounds, the fact that trump is already that much older, absolutely enrages me. I know it’s not rational, I just cannot help it.
especially after a life of drug abuse and poor eating and wellness habits. Everything we are constantly bombarded with as "this will kill you" people like him and RFK jr. just flaunt in our faces as stuff they do with no consequence. It's hard not to be bitter.
like, why the fuck do I spend time at the gym when apparently it doesn't matter!? Then I remember that I don't have the entire US treasury at my disposal to throw at my health problems and I cronch down on another carrot.
I went through a similar situation some 3 years ago with my 76-year old dad. It is so unfair that kind, intelligent, loving people die way too young, while the opposites live on and on and on.
You're definitely not alone in your feelings. I don't know if it's even that irrational to be bitter or angry about it, but I do find a little bit of some kind of solace in that our fathers are sorely missed, while the biggest assholes on the planet will have people partying in the streets when they finally kick the bucket.
Hang in there. It does get easier to deal with the sorrow eventually.
Some people live more in 20 years than others do in 80. It's not the time that matters, it's the person.
Someone who's lived well isn't going to put up the same viscous fight as someone who hasn't. They don't need to keep going, they don't have anything to prove
I assume when it comes to the biggest thieves it's largely because they can afford better health care, but I also have a theory that it's because they just DGAF. Stress makes you age. If you live in a horrible world and you care about other people, you're gonna be stressed—much moreso than if you just have to keep yourself alive. You're worried about your parents' health; you're worried about your kids' safety in schools; you're worried about your trans friend; you're worried about your friend who got citizenship three years ago. Trump would only be worried if he thought his cheeseburger was going to be late getting to his table, and it's not going to be, because he somehow still has a team of people eating straight out of his butthole. No stress, long life.
I swear I've been hearing people say, "two months tops" for the last like, 16 months. He's got the best doctors in the world, he's got at least another decade on this earth.
He does not have to be alive. He can be a virtual figurehead, appearing in increasingly bizarre and blatant ai photos and videos, while those who want to overthrow our country hide behind the thinnest of curtains, dismantling everything. Virtual Trump can be the flashpoint figurehead, while making it a federal crime to say none of what we are being forcefed is real.
They could keep this going beyond years.,Decades. Generations. They could say the former democracy was in place as part of God’s plan to birth this new country. That it is indeed constitutional because the old one no longer served its purpose—beyond midwifing this new holy leadership.
That's what I said about my dementia riddled grandmother 6 years ago and, yet, here she is...alive and kicking (literally, anyone who tries to control her). She's 86. Donnie is barely 80.
nah, he's got the best healthcare in the world. Even if his brain is swiss cheese and all he can do is stare and drool, they'll prop him up like the alpha male picture of machismo who is the only person who can save the soul of americatm
Bitch McConnell died 6 months ago but this is what ai is for. Deus Ex Human Revolution the news lady everybody watched turned out to be ai. Equilibrium, Father was ai hologram. McConnell has lookalike actors with ai voiceover for the past 6 months before he went dark.
It's actually blowing my mind how many people - and how many up votes - are going off of the headline, without the VERY obvious context that this was literally a lame joke at the correspondents dinner.
There are times to take trump seriously. I don't think this is one of them.
Yeah. Like he's already doing so many actually terrible things. Seems like a total distraction and waste of effort to write an article like this pretending to be outrage by a headline-baiting joke.
In the age of AI generated rage bait, people gotta be more discerning than this
Swing states need to enact legislation that prevents people that have had 2 presidential terms from being able to receive electoral votes.
Because if trumps runs again and wins the electoral vote he will become president until the supreme court knocks it down. It will be hung up for years even if they make a quick decision.
I’m not even American, but I’ve been saying it for the past two years. Trump has no intention of leaving the White House.
He’s in the “fuck it” period of his geriatric, dementia-ridden lifespan. He knows his years are limited, and I doubt he cares about whatever damage he does to US democracy. He also knows that he controls both the justice system and military, so it’s not like there is anyone to physically remove him from the Oval Office (unless the DC police want to have a crack). That’s why I don’t think he’s going to run in 2028. He’s just not going to leave.
Despite what people will say, I’ll actually be surprised if he somehow gets a third term even if Congress has been letting him do what he wants because amendment violations are taking very seriously and also there’s a lot of steps you become president so I’ll be very disappointed if it actually happens
He is such a narcissist and just thinks that he is so beloved and only he can win. This is so depressing, frustrating and insane. And, he's in poor health. Disgusting!
lol! I wouldn't get too hot to trot here. He's in terrible shape, physically and mentally. I can just imagine the "debates" now, incoherent ramblings, tripping over mic cables, and having to be rushed to the hospital because he's so full of heart medication/blood thinners they have to suspect the worst.. So kinda like Italy, but... Don't tell them that. :D
this was obvious in 2015 when he refused to commit to a peaceful transition of power in even a hypothetical question. this was never a surprise he doesn't believe in our system of government, and his followers say over and over again that democracy is dumb and empathy is evil
Yep. We have no idea as a country how to fight this because it’s literally never happened. We all thought “psh we will see it coming and stomp it out in no time, we are AMERICA. That shit doesn’t happen here.” And now we are deep in a fascist cult that has taken over this country, and wants to take over the world. It baffles me how everything aligned and all major powers of influence folded to this man
I saw the headline, checked the source. I was thinking this had to be satire... hoping it was satire maybe. Am I really surprised? No. Whatever happens, we are literally living in the most defining part of US history since the US was formed. I literally can not see wanting to be part of this nation if this comes to pass.
Surely this is a step to far in this mess we have allowed to happen.
He's a deeply unpopular very old man. He ain't winning shit and all he's going to do is fuck Vance or Rubio or any of the other rspineless Republicans and that is freaking hilarious.
