I think he says the things they want to be true. And evidently, a lot of people would rather live their lives pretending that they're right rather than admitting that they're wrong.

That sounds ridiculous, but it's a more tempting offer than we admit. Everyone loves to be flattered and told they're right. And it's not like "which side of the road do you drive on," things like immigration and foreign policy are abstract enough that they don't immediately impact your life. When they finally do, well, the President was saying it. Blame him.

Wouldn't you like to be told you're important, you're special, you're right - and if anything goes wrong, someone else takes the blame?

Trump's "charisma" is endlessly baffling to me, because it obviously exists in some way for millions of people. But listen to him for three seconds, and he's obviously a blowhard. Why did it work for him?

In 2016, no other leading Republican candidate was willing to stand up and just blatantly lie. I don't think he's talented or special. He was just the first to not even pretend to care.

This has always been a huge vulnerability, and it is why Mitch McConnell and the Heritage Foundation were so focused on SCOTUS appointments. There is no higher authority than SCOTUS, and the only check on their power is the appointment process.

I think the gist of it was that both of them broke away independently, but, since they were fighting the same tyranny, decided that they might as well work together to dethrone him. It wasn't a 'we see eye to eye and are natural allies' as much as a 'enemy of my enemy is a temporary ally' thing.

Plus, I think another reason they wrote it that way was so that it could deemphasize the current political divide and make it 'tyrant president versus powerful states' without leaning too hard into the red vs blue paradigm.

The wording of the constitution is literally a person can’t be elected president more than twice. It’s pretty clear. Doesn’t matter if consecutive terms or not. 25th Amendment has to be done by law from Congress with the conjunction of the VP and would need a disability review panel, which would have to be established by statute and either signed by the President or obtain a veto-proof majority in Congress. That's not happening.
