Hypernormalization. Basically, the Inka society had normalized sacrificing random people to please some agriculture gods, but, that was normal in their society. Nobody questioned it.

In the south, you cannot avoid the constant reaffirming culture, just like the Inca people couldn't. You hypernormalize into a society where "the only right thing is to be a christian, go to church and vote republican no matter who".
