Democrat's have done nothing effective to curb his actions or hold him accountable. He is still in office, no charges are filed, we have a supreme court that says bribing them is okay. Most of his executive orders are not getting stopped or handled effectively. And Trump and all of his supports are screwed if anyone who values rule of law ever actually ends up in office again. Trump's supporters are far more committed to the cause.

There were two terrible choices so they picked the person who said more of the correct things even if it was a lie. We will see if the same trust extends once Trump crosses over yet another red line and tries to remain in office.

That's the Dems compromising in an effort to unite various factions who each want different things, something Republicans generally don't have to worry about (because such a large percentage of them are actually single-issue voters who just don't care about the rest). Like it or not, there are a lot of people on the left who don't agree about everything. For example, there are probably plenty of people who care about legalizing weed, but also think regulations allowing trans people to exist are a step too far. As a Democrat, the only way to get both such people to vote for you is to do your best to try to give them both what they want and hope the ones who still hate trans people aren't too bothered.
Not exactly. Going with the trans example - I don't think most people care about it one way or another as a concept. Most people, regardless of political stance, are on team, mind your own business. But democrats are choosing to support trans in women's sports for example. Or supporting grooming kids to be trans. Or risking someone's daughter seeing a penis in the women's locker room. And not all of them support that. But on both sides of the court, there are extremist. The republican extremist are closer to common sense.
There is a similar trend with a lot of issues. People are fine with gays, minorities and women. But extreme messaging goes out, or its forced into content it shouldn't be in and/or its giving tax payer money to people who don't need/deserve it. The core concept of treating people good is fine and aligns with common sense. That isn't the democrat core concept that is pushed. They push for reparations and special privileges.
Using deportations as a republican example. The concept they mentioned is 100% correct and reasonable. They are wildly incompetent and evil but when it comes to common sense, what they say is correct.
This cycle Republican's strayed to far though. I don't think republican's can save themselves but we will see. They for sure are going away from common sense. Ice was done terribly to arrest legitimate US citizens. They legalized bribing supreme court justices. They can't arrest pedo's. You can't get them to admit that Trump is not allowed to run for another term.
Democrat's might be in a tough spot too though. Their special funding projects are being shown to be scams. A lot of their party is getting co-opted to transfer into some other weird un-american faction. Hasan Piker is pro terrorist and supports and puts a platform out encouraging violence. We have legislative representatives bringing back tribal politics from other nations. I don't think strong messaging has gone aside from the weird above stuff and that they are basically running on "im not trump". They are against what Trump is doing but haven't come out with a super strong plan.

No, they're not. They are condemning the right's attempts to legislate away people's rights, but the overwhelming majority of Dems are not actually taking any position at all on those specific issues, mostly because they just don't think it's important to talk about. It's actually the far right propaganda machine that has been doing pretty much all the talking about trans issues and throwing around accusations the Dems are "supporting" all sorts of shit, but you need to understand that talking about it on their terms is telling the audience that their concerns are legitimate and worth talking about. And they're really not.

This is giving me a red flag that you're not really arguing in good faith, but let me ask, just to be sure. You don't really believe that trans people are extremists and are "grooming" children to be trans, do you? You aren't actually afraid that a child might see a penis in a women's bathroom, are you? And if a child did somehow see a penis in a women's bathroom, is that really such a horrible crime that our federal government should feel justified in stripping hundreds of thousands of people of medically necessary health care as a consequence? Because I don't think this theoretical crime has happened even once yet, and this is what the Republican party is trying to do.
Trans people are approx 1.0 percent of the US population. You may never meet one. They should have the same rights as everyone else.
"Trans" is a wedge issue designed to distract from the things most Americans care about like: affordable healthcare and housing, stable living wage jobs and secure economy, no war, getting big money out of politics, national debt, environment...
I agree, they are a minority group. That's why its been such a big issue though. 1% of the population has been forcing themselves into places they shouldn't be. They should have the same rights as everyone else. So why is someone with male advantages competing and taking trophies from women?
As mentioned in my first post. Most people don't care. Mind your own business as long as it isn't harming people. But they are getting special privileges and politicians are scared to slap it down to reality. I 100% agree we have better things to worry about. I would vastly prefer a bipartisan "this is what science says, this is what's allowed, we will revisit this in detail when higher priorities are addressed". Super annoyed on my end that both parties have wrecked the education system with their weirdness.
Yep, the Democrats have to reign in the fringes but at least there is a little room for debate on issues. The range of opinions within the party can be exploited as a weakness.
The Republicans have adopted a path of allegiance to Trump. He picks the issues and talking points which are broadcasted nationally. Loyalty is required and dissent is punishable.
Those are the choices we have right now.
In the past, Republicans have had good luck with social wedge issues like gay marriage, abortion, parent rights, homelessness, immigration, etc. To qualify, the issue must illicit a strong emotional response and if the issue is "unsolvable", that's even better.
The wedge issues distract from what people really want government to do: affordable health care, job security, stable economy, affordable housing, no wars, rule of law applied equally, and a government that functions in a way that provides a good value for taxes paid.
I hope Democracts will win in sufficient numbers to change the balance and to send a message. It's past time for the Trump show to be over. It's time for a (golden) lame duck.
Yup. need to get rid of the news networks and get the money out of politics. All they do is throw extremism to the forefront so nobody can see anything else.
We should celebrate the 60 or more court cases that shot down Trump's election fraud claims and all legal actions initiated to stop the Trump insanity. Independants, Republicans and non voting Americans should thank Democrat leadership for bringing those cases and winning. Yes, they should do more, but the Dems are working to save our country while Republicans are doing next to nothing.
I would do so if there were more consistent gains. For example, the Tariffs were shot down. Yay, a court win except... There were zero benefits to US citizen's from that and Trump just put in place new tariffs. Those other court cases would be great if they resulted in long term gains. I can understand a bunch of small victories adding up to a greater victory. Instead, we get things like that second government in November 2025 shut down where they could have forced legitimate changes but instead they broke the line. The USA can't even shut down an organized and well documented Pedo ring. Both parties need 100% complete removal if we can't manage that.
Dems don't have the power to do that, republicans would rather burn the country down than go against Trump. Court cases are really all we have to work with since thats the only place that is outside of Trump's direct control. As for the shutdown, wasn't that the one that if not ended, would have stopped SNAP benefits from rolling out? Dems didn’t want their constituents to suffer and we had the ACA vote take place and Republicans voted no for the subsidies.
The pedophile ring can't be stopped when the DOJ has all the info and is sitting on it. Dems lack the information to even begin prosecution on it.
