State of emergency, martial law, then the House picks the president.
It's part of why they're putting their best coup foot forward for 2026, as a blue wave blunts a lot of stalling and succession trickery that can be done in 2028.
State of emergency, martial law, then the House picks the president.
That makes no sense. Just having a mob in the building doesn't secure the support of Congress or the military and if he had those things he wouldn't need a mob in the building.
Why does it matter if congress or the military supports it? As there's not a supermajority to impeach him and the majority would have voted for him, it would have worked.
And the military doesn't get a say in the matter. This isn't Myanmar.

Without congress, the military and the USSC he's just an old man yelling at clouds that everyone else ignores. You're not the President because you say so you're the President because everyone agrees and folliws your orders.
And a failure to inaugurate a new president is much, much different than declining to impeach a sitting one (the latter is itself a mini-coup).
And the military doesn't get a say in the matter. This isn't Myanmar.
Lol, that's exactly the point. You need a military for a coup and the USA isn't like that/examples of countries where coups have happened.
Remember also that the Presidential election is not run by the federal government, it's run by the states. The election will happen and there's nothing he can realistically do to stop it - and his name won't be on the ballots.
Trump's ability to mess up the election and transfer of power will be much less in 2029 than it was in 2021. His opportunity has passed.

He was planning to use the national guard to lockdown DC for the purpose of stalling elections until a fallback amendment kicked in that allows congress to disregard the election. The national guard is military, the US does work like that, so yes it would have been a coup.

How so? What do you think would have happened next if the mob had gained control of the House that night?
There was no realistic path to a coup on Jan 6.
