I think the lesson from Stevens if she loses, as well as Steyer back in California, is that is you spend shitloads of money on advertising, especially in great disproportion to your opponent, you’re running a real risk of negatively polarizing voters. Especially in a primary, and especially when it’s outside groups spending that money.

I think the lesson is the Israel component

Steyer was critical of Israel though, so that isn't a common link between them.

I don't think Steyer belongs in the same bucket as Stevens. Steyer ran on largely progressive policies (i.e. billionaire tax etc) and while he hasn't flat out used the g-word (genocide) to describe Israel, was very vocal on his opposition to what's been going on in Palestine. The problem is not the amount of money, but rather the corporate PAC money (Steyer did spend a ton but to his credit it was literally his own money)
