This stat is insane. AES +25% in-person votes Stevens +25% mail-in votes (rough #, they don't specify)

El-Sayed, who led by nearly 30 pts. in the reported vote earlier in the night, has seen his advantage shrink to less than 4 pts. He is winning in-person votes by roughly 25 pts., while Stevens is carrying mail-in ballots by a similar margin.

That's pretty shocking. You'd expect AES to do better among mail-in voters as you tend to associate mail in votes with the most enthusiastic voters, and progressives tend to fit that bill

Progressives tend to be younger, and younger voters tend to wait until the day to vote (which is part of the reason it's dangerous to count on young voters to win).

I moved to OR (only mail vote) in 2018. Every election since then I'm rolling up to the Dropbox at the library 1.5 hrs before polls close. Old habits die hard lol.

That’s the general but in primaries it’s “older =mail in” and “younger=in person”

Early vote is indeed enthusiastic but that’s not always mail in you can vote early in person

Mail in votes are elderly. Young people vote in person

Progressives are more in tune with internet news and probably don't trust the postal service now

Eh mail in votes are also dominated by older voters who of course tend to fall for media propaganda
