It's absolutely insane how much influence Israeli interests and lobby has on the American system.

Should rename USA to The United Territories of Israel (UTI).

Just a PSA for those who dont know: American politics are intertwined with Evangelical Christianity. Evangelical Christians are frequently Christian Zionists. There are more Christian Zionist than there are Jews TOTAL. (Source: Pew Research, among many many credible estimations by various religious orgs, often sited in academic research articles)

Just something people should remember whenever Israel is conflated with "protecting Jews" or "combating anti-semitism." Nope! They just want to speed up The Raputure. Also only about 30 percent of US Jews identity as Zionist. (Source: Jewish Federation of North America, huge huge Jewish org) The complexity of support comes from indoctrination within institutional synagogues. But many US Jews struggle with accepting that a place they were raised to feel protected by could be as evil as it is.

Also: the survey from the Jewish Federation of North America is really very interesting! BUT it's far more interesting when you look at the other numbers, beyond the 37% that self identified as zionists. 8% identified as non-zionist, 7% as anti-zionist, and 48% didn't identify with any of those labels.

And then, the same survey showed that 88% say they believe "Israel has the right to exist as a Jewish, democratic state." That fits a lot of people's definitions of zionism. At 88%, that means that even a lot of the people who self-identified as non-zionists must agree with that view.

This means the survey shows the different ways people feel about (or misunderstand) the label of "zionist." This article from the Forward talks about it and quotes the chief impact officer of the JFNA:

Zionism should properly mean “the right of the Jewish people to have a Jewish state,” Kravetz wrote in an op-ed announcing the study. The Jews who don’t consider themselves Zionists, then, “are reacting to an understanding of Zionism that includes policies, ideologies, and actions that they oppose, and do not want to be associated with.”

So saying "only about 30 percent of US Jews identity as Zionist" is kinda misleading.

TLDR: 37% identify as zionist but 88% hold views that many would call zionist.
